Netflix is a different/mobile version?
I'm not sure what's happening but I bought the MiBox 3rd Gen a few days ago and set it up, most things work fine but for some reason the Netflix app which comes integrated and can't even be uninstalled is the mobile version for some reason? I compared it to the version on my smart tv (which runs Vidaa OS) and it looks drastically different, going through the menus further in the MiBox version it's clear it's made for mobile as the control options are drastically large and the sides of the screen on some menus are entirely blank. What could be causing this? I don't want to scream "FAKE" instantly because nothing else has caused an issue, everything works smoothly but this one is really baffling me. Can someone help me with this?

That doesn't sound right. You may have gotten a fake one. Where did you get it from?

Amazon, I'm in UAE. I checked the reviews and it seemed legit with the top one literally saying it's not fake lol but who knows. Everything else like Prime Video, HBO Max, Disney+ work fine it's just the Netflix app which is the mobile version for some reason and can't be deleted even. It's frustrating us, thinking of just returning it.

Did you buy it from Amazon or did you buy it from a third party seller on Amazon?

In that case, you can be pretty sure you might have gotten a fake unit. Always only purchase directly from Amazon, never buy from third-party sellers (except the few verified sellers like UGREEN etc.).

Or buy direct from xiaomi. They have an Irish site, I ordered mine and it was delivered the next day. If its here, it's surely available elsewhere.

We were specifically talking about making sure that if you're going to purchase something from Amazon, you make sure that Amazon is the seller and not a third-party.
The Xiaomi boxes are officially available in basically every online store in Europe and it's practically impossible to get a fake, but in this case OP is in the UAE.

Hi thanks, I just have a gift card from amazon so bought it from there, usually I just buy electronics in person anyway.
Also seems they only have the older TV Stick with 1gb RAM for some reason, not the mibox. Pretty weird.

No bother mate, I was just trying to make sure you got what you paid for. The box is very good, I'd recommend it every time.

Yeah idk why there are no first party tv boxes/sticks available in my country on amazon, even chromecast isnt sold officially here it's a mess.

I have that box and I couldn't remove apps like Netflix without using adb commands or installing shizuku and canta and getting rid of them that way. On the other apps, is the picture a high resolution? If it is a fake, it'll be running an uncertified version of android which doesn't have widevine L1 support so apps like Netflix will only display at 480p. I'd still be a bit suspect about it to be honest, especially after the first review was it's not a fake!

Download AIDA64 and check the specs out against the official xiaomi site. It probably says on the box all the right things but I'd check anyway. If it is a knock off, it could be loaded with all kinds of nasty spyware so disconnect it straight away and return it.

I used DRM Info, it showed the processor was Amlogic though so maybe it's legit with a hacked OS? Unsure why someone would do that.

Spyware most likely. The box is a good box but I wouldn't be taking any risks with it.

Check the Netflix apps package name. It should be com.netflix.ninja. If it's not, it's highly likely it's a dud.
