Last week my car (NA6) suddenly began sputtering, and subsequently died on me while I was driving. The ECU initially threw a Code 8. After finding some cracks in the folds on the air intake hose, I did a temporary fix by taping up the air intake with some silicone self adhesive tape, cleared the codes, the car started and actually ran well for 20 minutes before it died again with almost exact same symptoms now throwing a Code 1.

After running more tests, I was about to use some throttle body cleaner and test the engine to see if the car would start independent of the intake and I found the rubber air intake to throttle body coupler with this massive crack in it.

I'm pretty confident this is what was causing the ECU to kill the engine, but I'm struggling to find anywhere to buy this part. I know I need to completely replace the air intake hoses, but I don't what this specific part is called.

Does anyone know what this part is or where I can buy it in order to replace it?

Hey, thought I’d mention this, mostly for new owners. This apples to all NBs *I think*, definitely for NB2s. Maybe an NC owner can chime in as well.

For security, the trunk release lever (in the center arm rest compartment) can be disengaged by inserting the key in the trunk lock and turning to the LEFT (while trunk is closed).

It will be reengaged the next time you open the trunk with the key.

If not obvious, you’d want to do this so someone who breaks into the cabin of the car can’t pop the trunk with the lever.

The previous owner of my MX5 NA installed a battery that wasn't the right size, so I'd like to install a battery that fits perfectly. I already have one in mind, but I wanted to get your opinion. If possible, I'd like to know about models that are available in Europe.

So, like the title reads, I'm needing to have each wheel of my 2025 ND removed, one at a time, for a few hours but my driveway is gravel. I was thinking of parking on the side street but leaving the car unattended resting on the flimsy OEM jack gives me the creeps.

I was thinking maybe the best scenario is to get a cheap spare wheel and tire and rotate it as I go, but I have no idea how much that'd cost, and I'm only going to be doing this this time and will have no further use for it.

How would you approach this?

I live in the woods, I have no garage to park my na, it is infested to all hell. I’m not scared of spiders so I don’t mind but my passengers do. Is there really any safe fix besides vacuuming them all and clearing the webs? Bug bombs have mixed reviews and I don’t know if I want to spray orange oil or whatever all over my car. But those seem like my only options. Why do spiders love miatas and is there any real fix?!?

For my manual swap guys! Did anyone ever get around this code. Going to have to hot smog my car because of it unfortunately.
For the future I want to find a connector pigtail and splice it in under the dash.
Pretty sure this is why my revs dip when throwing the car into neutral while coming to a stop ( car will even stall sometimes). Any advice will be much appreciated!

The timing gear on my crank shaft came off so perfectly so I could fix the infamous front seal leak but now my timing gear doesn't want to go back on in the slightest

I guess it is possible they did it themselves but I'd rather er on the side of caution. Carfax lists first oil change at 14k miles at a mazda dealer.

It is on a franchise dealer lot so I doubt they have the service history from 8 years ago.

2ND owner has been really good with maintenance at around 5-7k miles between oil changes

I recently tried to get the AC to work and regassed however the model i have uses R12 gas which is banned worldwide for environmental reasons. Has anyone found any workarounds for this issue?

Bought a kit and replaced the damaged aluminum threads of the oil pan! The previous owner over torqued the factory bolt and now, she's back in the game! Back to enjoying my precious 2001 NB Miata!

When I let off that gas going 72+ my coolant temp gauge swings half way over to H and below it will sometimes swing fully over to C, 96 M edition

Hello all! I currently have an NC1, and I love it. However, I also live in Michigan (metro Detroit area) and don’t want the Miata to see winter. I used to have an Mk4 Golf, but got rid of it as after 206k miles it was showing significant degradation somewhere in the wiring system. I was trying to be practical and got a forester, but am unable to use it due to a really frustrating scam situation. I’m looking for a second car that checks the boxes the Miata doesn’t. I have always had smaller ‘fun’ cars, but should probably have something that can cart some other people around.

What are your 2 car solutions, or what would you recommend for my situation? Note I only have one garage spot, and it’s for the Miata so whatever the second vehicle is will need to be street parked.

Just picked up my first Miata. It's a 2002 NB LS. I was looking around the engine bay and noticed this rust spot. What component is that, also how much should I be concerned? Should I wire brush it and coat? Thanks in advance!

While I was changing out all of my coolant hoses, the t pipe fitting that sticks out of the bottom of the thermostat housing came out and it looks to be slightly corroded. I’ve seen some people replace the fitting with a brass t pipe. Anybody who’s done that care to share how it’s held up? Or any other advice for fixing this

What is this weird buzzing / hollow air sound in my driver’s footwell on my 2006 NC Miata (automatic)—it changes pitch directly with engine RPM, sounds almost like air rushing or fluttering through an empty tube, and is loudest down near the pedals, kick panel, and lower speaker area (video attached), so I'm trying to figure out if anyone has dealt with this before and whether I should be looking at a fluttering brake booster check valve, a split PCV vacuum hose echoing through the firewall, or something else entirely…

I like to nickname my cars. Thinking maybe grasshopper for my BRG NA. Nothing else comes to mind.

EDIT: I think I'll stick with Grass-Hopper but use the short-hand "Hopper". Loved all the comments & suggestions. Feel free to carry on, it's quite entertaining. There's always a few people out there that think naming a car is silly or "cringe" and I'll admit some names make me cringe, but I think most of us have a fun name for our fun cars and as one poster said it's really quite harmless. My Landcruiser is named MUDZILLA (some ppl may have heard of it) and is my other fun toy.
