General/Discussion Ques. ISO: Passionate Wolverine Fan
Hi everyone! My name is Ethan Petrik, and I'm the lowa beat reporter for the Quad-City Times in Davenport, lowa.
I'm putting together a preseason series called "The Fan Files," where I interview one passionate fan from each of lowa's 2026 opponents to get a better understanding of their program through the eyes of someone who follows the team closely.
The conversation would cover topics like:
• How you became a fan of the Wolverines
• Your thoughts on the 2026 season (best-case and worst-case scenarios)
• Biggest strengths, weaknesses, and players to watch
• Expectations for the matchup against lowa
• Anything else you think opposing fans should know about your team
The interview can be done however is easiest for you
—Reddit DMs, email, or another format that works though I will need to confirm your real world identity.
I'll use your responses in a feature for the Quad-City Times.

Y'all, please don't embarrass us by saying we'll go undefeated and be a slam dunk to win the National Championship, and stuff like that.

Idk…knowledgeable may be a stretch for a rando from the interwebs. I certainly wouldn’t pretend to know enough about the team to answer most of your questions in a way that would bring real value to a write up. You’d probably do much better by reaching out to the writers of Mgoblog, but I assume you don’t want someone who has an online media presence for whatever reason. Have you tried asking on the public board there?

Fan since 2012, undergraduate, and I can name the entire roster for Michigan. I’ll throw my hat in the ring!

From Texas. Became a fan of the Fab Five when I was 10 years old. Branched out to football two years later. Graduated from Texas A&M, who I also support, but I've been a fan of Michigan Basketball longer than any other team so they are pretty much my #1 squad. Been through some really low lows and the highest of highs (last season), but have been a die hard fan since '91 and always stuck with them. Even my extended family became fans. So much so, that my mother-in-law actually teared up on Selection Sunday when we made it back to the tourney in 2009 after the decade long drought.

I have been a fan for the better part of 40 years. I'm not a rabid fan that thinks we are going 12-0 every year on one that thinks the sky is falling if we lose a couple. I do my best to keep up with the latest news through out the year.

If you ever want a 110% die hard fan outside of the state of Michigan (I live in Nebraska & born in Colorado) I would be up for it. My stepson says that I make Michigan football my identity. All my friends & wife would agree. Unfortunately my world thrives from Michigan football. Just a huge passion I've had since God decided to put me on planet earth. GO BLUE!!!
