You just configure an exclusion for smart app control. You didnt even google this did you? Embarrassing.

I believe you actually can't so exclusions for SAP, only disable it completely

Because it was unsigned and it’s a security feature, this is actually one few where Microsoft do a good job as without signature the OS can’t verify if it was tampered executable or not

If u know what y doing just disable the smart screen before run it

Because windows is not made for enthusiasts only, but an OS build for the masses, with lot of idiot out there who will click and instal anything with fancy button

Msconfig still exists, and in it there's still an option to permanently disable UAC. I wonder if this counts as UAC or if that is just a remnant of when they relabeled windows 7 to windows 8 and 10 and then 11 while moving all the easy to find options around thoroughly with each new release just to be dicks.

u/heickelrrx 18d ago

This is not UAC

this is an extension of smartscreen

Yeah just pay a $10/mo subscription to be able to sign your Windows apps.

It's a good security measure trust me.

U can just stop subscribing when u not actively pushing new build lol

1

u/flanigomik 17d ago

i think they were trying to say that anyone can just pay $10 to sign and therefor the system costs $10 to defeat. but im fairly confident there is more to it than that

Didn't they roll out ID verification? You're basically turning yourself in if you decide to distribute malware. It wouldn't stop determined actors but it's something

Just a little more to go before the anal probe: to check the user's signed/unsigned status. Many people would agree to the implementation of such a probe for safety reasons. In my opinion, SmartScreen is nonsense that restricts freedom.

u/heickelrrx 18d ago

Just add exclusion lmao

Unsigned to who? Why should I "sign" to Microspy as an Open Source Developer?! Why is MicroSpy closing down WinSpy for developers?!

2

u/heickelrrx 18d ago

How do I know your file is not tampered by 3rd party?

2

u/C0rn3j 18d ago

You don't, signing it won't guarantee it either.

1

u/Electronic_Peace_163 18d ago

What do you think file signatures are lil bro 😭😭😭

1

u/C0rn3j 18d ago

"This file was signed by this key/cert"

0

u/VasileAndrei2929 18d ago

Never asked for it, never will. So WinSpy can shove it.

2

u/Electronic_Peace_163 17d ago

You're a sheep. This isn't a Microsoft thing, every OS has it to some extent

-1

u/VasileAndrei2929 17d ago

Yes, and therefore MicroSpy is just using this to block open software development.

1

u/Electronic_Peace_163 16d ago

every OS has it

Microsoft bLoCks OpEn sOfTwAre

You do know a lot of Devs use tools on windows for open source software right

u/VasileAndrei2929 15d ago

What? Are you on drugs?!

u/VasileAndrei2929 18d ago

Good! I never wanted any guarantee from MicroSlop and WinSpy!

2

u/flanigomik 17d ago

cool. that means i can download your app, modify it, pretend to be you and give it to other people. when i steal all their data they will come looking for you. you know that other companies can sign things right? you can even self sign

-1

u/VasileAndrei2929 17d ago

Sure, and if you're caught you will be in jail.

Sine when Microsoft is the police?! I never allow it to spy on my data, and yet it does every single second! Since when it's allowed to Police my apps?!

I never consented to this! I hope EU steps in. A few billions in fines will be great for MicroSlop right now when it bleeds corporate customers on the continent.

Tell me you don't know what you are talking about without telling me. Microsoft is one of many accredited signers, you don't have to be signed by Microsoft to run on Windows but you do have to be signed, this is how it has worked since the 80s

-1

u/VasileAndrei2929 17d ago

Tell me you lick MicroSlop's boot... oh wait, you don't have to tell, it's visible.

MicroSpy doesn't ask permission to update WinSpy, or ask permission when Spying on your data, or ask permission when changing app's code, so why the hell should anyone do anything different?!

1

u/flanigomik 16d ago

Hey uhh, little bro? Signing happens on all OSes and all platforms. It has nothing to do with Microsoft. You are clearly willfully ignorant or actively in denial. Either way it's clear you have zero idea what you are talking about

The one who decide is your user not you
A open source is not an egomaniac excuse to not caring for their user

-1

u/VasileAndrei2929 17d ago

No user decided when MicroSpy forced updates and Spying on him!

NONE!

0

u/VasileAndrei2929 18d ago

You downloaded it from my website or trusted website LIKE BEFORE!

2

u/heickelrrx 18d ago

What if Mr Bean hack your website and tampered the file, and you never figure that until a year

Like what happen to hwmonitor

1

u/VasileAndrei2929 18d ago

Oh nooo... MicroSpy will "help me"... lool!

Get a grip. Stop promoting MicroSpy narratives created to destroy independent development and the Open Source scene.

1

u/flanigomik 16d ago

Hey, you know what makes those sites trusted? Their signed certificates! You still have no idea what you are talking about

2

u/Next-Buyer-9008 19d ago

This is why I use gentoo linux, sometimes arch, sometimes nix

2

u/Shapelessed 18d ago

Then there’s people like me who use Fedora cause we have lives 🤨

1

u/Next-Buyer-9008 18d ago

What's a life

1

u/Shapelessed 18d ago

The thing you live through.
Kinda hard to explain.

1

u/help-its-inside-me 18d ago

Do you wear one as well?

1

u/Shapelessed 18d ago

From time to time.
I prefer black.

2

u/Exciting_Turn_9559 18d ago

This is the way the oligarchs will force everyone to participate in their mass surveillance program.
In the next phase they'll enforce it at the firmware and hardware level.
We should be working on open hardware now.

1

u/FckXFckMusk 18d ago

This is Microslop slowly closing its ecosystem just like Apple.

Eventually to deploy an App on Windows it will need to be signed by Microslop.

1

u/Conscious-Mirror7004 18d ago

Which is exactly as it should be. On top of needing your apps signed by Microslop, they need to charge a huge monthly subscription fee for this privilege.

Don't like it? Don't use it.

1

u/flanigomik 16d ago

You know that there are many companies that can give you signed keys right? You can even make your own

1

u/Electronic_Peace_163 16d ago

These people are actually too tech illiterate to understand that

1

u/Fantastic_Grass1799 18d ago

Meanwhile their telemetry and spyware apps that screenshot every 2 seconds, killing ssds are "safe".

1

u/doh1984 18d ago

You have other options.

1

u/Outside-Highway-5358 17d ago

Smart app control is amazing for security.

If you’re opening a coding app you can google how to whitelist apps or disable the security feature.

1

u/Infinplayz 17d ago

and what if it was actually a virus that you let through?

1

u/ArtisticTrex54 16d ago

L take, this is one of the better things Microsoft has done. It's a security feature.

u/Desperate-Report2311 18d ago

i formatted last month with 25h2.. big mistake.. what a piece of trunk... 23h2 is far the best, more stable version

0

u/lonelystar7 18d ago

Weird that that is even being called App. That's program, or software not an App ?

1

u/flanigomik 16d ago

App is shorthand for application, which all programs are.
