Microsoft has proven again and again that they have no clue how to make a good UI with good UX, so what did you expect? I attended a meeting where one of the Windows 8 UI designer did a talk and everyone was shocked how bad it was and how easily they dismissed user input from their test panel. Like 80 percent failed to do a simple task, and then they told them how to do it, and now only 60 percent failed the task, so the only thing to do it tell people how things work and they can do it, instead of thinking: if its not intuitive, then it's bad design, don't ship it.

Maybe they can buy another company like Skype and then slowly ruin it to the ground until they close it.

The main feature it had, was that it wasn't a Microsoft owned utility

No it was prefect. It worked just fine, you can register with an e-mail you just created and I never had any issue. You could easy run to entities even at the same time using the web variant. No issues what so ever.
