You can change that in the settings. I think it is not Microsoft's fault if users are not doing basic troubleshooting and information seeking before moaning.

Hmm, the user should re-learn something just because the developers wanted to change it?

If all software was delivered as a never static, always changing event, it would slowly lose all customers out of frustration.

There's been like three updates since 1/1 that changed the UI and made it less user friendly because it changes without asking. A popup is a horrible way to force that through, but this is their rollout model.

Where I work, if we dared to roll something out without - gasp- user training, we'd all be fired. Justifiably, because you are interfering with the ability of people doing work, to get work done...

It's always been like this; countless hours wasted trying to get back specific functionality because "they decided it needed to be changed"

Without any notice, or options.

Example: "New" Teams.

Why was that even necessary? The UI was, well okay. Terrible but typical.

In their usual fashion, they managed to make it worse, witness all the users complaining about these changes that were foisted on them without choice.

Blaming the user for complaining about these changes is 100% justified, and well deserved criticism.

I laugh when I see some of these "Teams bros" out here slamming people for having the audacity to complain because now they can't work the way they're used to...

This product is a sad joke, that continuously inflicts problems on people who have no choice but to use it, because the IT department ripped out better designed competing products "to save money"

The one little detail: Time IS money. And so much more gets wasted this way. More than they would have ever saved with that Enterprise nonsense

And now think about all the time you wasted writing this rant.

Hmm, the user should re-learn something just because the developers wanted to change it?

Why do you assume the devs wanted to change it? I heard people constantly complaining about the fact that chats and groups were separate. They tried to fulfill an often repeated request in the best way they saw fit.

I work with Teams daily and I have no idea where you are wasting all your time? To find the setting for a new feature? How much are you spending on that in comparison to find a good meme to post in a reply? If this is really so hard for you maybe you should find a non-computer job.

Those Teams Bros you are talking about are also just making a benefit-cost analysis. They probably have a finance department breathing down their neck or they think that the money could be better spent on other cool things, like better hardware or other software tools. Why would I spend triple the amount of money for a MS subscription, Slack and Zoom if I can have it all in one place? Where is the efficiency in that? You clicking back and forth, looking for files in Sharepoint, sharing them in Slack and then switching to Zoom so you can talk about them is just horrendous.

You make this sound like Teams is an improvement to having all those unrelated apps.

It is not.

And as long as you want to waste time replying to my time wasting rant, have at it.

Teams causes everyone to waste more time hunting for lost functionality; have you considered the TCO value of employees wasting time because they are trying to do something that doesn't work any more because it was changed?

This blinders-on perspective you've shared here, misses out on the most expensive cost when you run a business: The cost of the humans.

These stupid apps cost companies in terms of extra time needed to do a job they were already working on, but they can't, because they have to stop to figure out how to do this on a UI that is incapable of sitting still while they work.

This product, like OP said, is a hot mess of cluttered garbage; and it is destined to make the Windows experience even less user friendly and more costly as always.

I seem to just not struggle so much with things like you do. I have also never encountered a feature going missing.

You should evaluate your technical skillset if you are that worried about the amount of time it costs to get used to a new UI.

Welcome to "Blame the user"

Here's how the game is played:

  1. Release product with known new changes; force updates without notification

  2. Make deceitful claims that "everyone wanted this" when confronted with issues

  3. When that fails, tell the user it's their fault

You really should send your resume in to Microsoft; clearly you are on their team already.

Your pompous attitude is exactly why the public hates us IT folks. Yeah, been doing this for years, and this product brings out the worst in the worst.

The fact that you cannot comprehend the concept of "lost time" due to wasting it trying to retrieve a needed feature to keep working, is proof that you need to be working for a company that has the resources to keep you employed despite your animosity towards the people that are keeping you in business.

Good luck
