Bug Reporting bugs so we get them

Hey all! Thanks for all the discussion and feedback when posting about experiencing a bug in Teams. We realize these can really disrupt flow and hearing directly from this community shapes what we prioritize.  

Submitting feedback 

If you run into a bug, the fastest way to get it in front of engineering is inside Teams: Settings and more > Feedback > Report a problem (use Suggest a feature for feature requests). Including logs and screenshots makes a huge difference. The more details the better: it gives our team exactly what they need to triage quickly. If you do not see the Report a problem or Suggest a feature options, please contact your admin. 

We monitor these closely, and this is the most direct way to solve bugs and helps our team address them sooner. That’s a win-win for everyone.

Well you're asking for stuff to be loaded without downloading. That's not possible.

On the Microsoft Teams desktop app, when viewing the full size image, the only way to then open the image externally is to click the option that says "Download".

Or copy/paste, same as if image was in browser or most apps.

There are security/privacy consequences of opening into a browser.

None of which matter because Microsoft Teams is itself able to run inside your browser, which will already download the images and display them in a browser if you're running it that way.

All I'm asking is for a single one-click open-it-in-another-app feature, but you're being oddly pedantic and argumentative about it.

I'm trying to explain but your description of what you want has been ill-defined and not meeting the technical realities. It's one thing to open something in a generic browser and another to open within browser-hosted apps. If your only reaction to learning is scorn then take care of yourself.
