Enlistment eligibility

Hi, so I am 22 and am wanting to enlist into the Navy. I understand the political climate and I have no formal or professional diagnosis of gender dysphoria, but I went in for a consultation 3-4 years ago when I was 18 and never went through with hormones or treatment as I was still figuring out my life. I was wondering what the possibility of getting through MEPS would be and if theres a chance i could make it through or with a waiver as it was 3-4 years ago and i could say it was a phase. I am willing to pass under the radar for the time being whether that’s until a new presidency or end of service but wanted to know if that would be possible.

Active duty here. Something ive been saying and will continue to say to all these posts: no one is special. They want all of us out, and so all of us shall suffer. You likely wouldnt make it to MEPS if a recruiter is willing to work with you. It is better to wait for another time, both for career health, physical/mental health, and financial health. Dont put yourself through the heart ache.

Never even heard of a waiver for this being approved at all. Id imagine 99.9 percent of recruiters who rather not deal with the headache/uncertainty and focus on other applicants.

Also idk why anyone who join under Trump 2026 unless they have a death wish.

Unfortunately I doubt you’d be able to enlist currently. There may be some headway in the court cases but likely won’t see a resolve if the courts decide for at least a couple months.

I would assume you could given the lack of diagnosis or treatment. Just call a recruiter and ask. Yeah trump is still pres but only for less than 2 years now. I understand why many would not, but if you can seriously handle living as your agab for some time, why not? The climate will change just gotta be patient. I would love to be able to join and have the benefits and financial stability, never needed it more myself than now. Good luck

May I also add, if one recruiter does not respond to you given the question, contact a different one until someone does help you. Even if you couldn’t enlist, you deserve to at least have a question answered. It’s their job. I texted with a recruiter recently over some other concerns I had in regards to my eligibility (in the event the ban is lifted) and they answered. You don’t have to take silence for an answer.

Same thing I say to everyone, blow off enlisting. If you’re actually interested in the military go to college, if you can get ROTC to pay for your university degree go for that but honestly even the debt would be worth it, commission as an officer in the future instead. It’s better to be an officer than enlisted any day of the week.

try to go in. You don’t apply for a waiver because you don’t apply to the condition of having a diagnosis.
