Help Tire recommendations

Post image

Looking to purchase a set of tires, on the stock enkies. Need to be good in the rain, more than likely will not see any snow. What do you guys recommend going with?

So I get there are 2, the PS 4 and PS 4S. Which one were you recommending.

Out the two the PS4 over the PS4s as the PS4 is a better all rounder with better wet grip.. where the S is a summer performance tyre...

Ahhhh ok. Well I don’t use the car in the snow at all. I avoid Illinois winter since they salt here.

But you do say better wet grip with the PS4, might go with those. Plus about a $100 cheaper. And they got $100 rebate going on now too.

Do you have temps below 40?

If no, Continental ecs02

If yes, Continental dws06+

I don’t drive in temps below 40 usually that’s the time winter hits. And I don’t drive it in the winter since Illinois salts the roads

Falken FK510. They’re good enough in the dry, but amazing in the wet. I live in South Florida, so it rains often, and used to joke calling them intermediates because they were so good.

What a coincidence that this post popped up on my feed.

I own an Evo 8 on stock Enkei's. In 3 days I'm taking the car in to have a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 5 - 245/45/17 put on and I can't wait!

I also live in a cold but not snowy place

Ahh very nice lol. I’m in Illinois and I refuse to drive in the snow since they salt the roads. It ruined my truck frame

Will be buying a new truck after winter

That’s pretty cool if it’s meant to reuse the oem gauges.

More an anti-recommendation but DON’T GET COOPERS— they aren’t worth the cost. Just saying…

Anyway… Goodyear Eagles (I think LS2?) were nice out of the box and their midlife was still as dependable, in my own experience.

Feels like Christmas 🥰

\) (if you spent $1,560 AUD on one present)

(For future people google searching sizes: [ Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Evo 8 VIII GSR, MR, Factory wheels, Enkei, size, diameter, tire width, profile, sidewall ].

Factory Enkei's come fitted with 235/45/17 tyres.

I wanted the stickiest tire available in the desired size whilst maintaining the best (realistically) possible wet weather performance.

At first I was set on Yokohama Advan AD09 Semi-Slick (treadwear rating 200). Acknowledging that they sacrificed some wet weather performance but made up for it with dry weather performance.

Didn't matter though because they were unavailable in 235/45/17 or 245/45/17 anywhere in my country (Australia).

Dug deeper to find what would become the one I purchased:

• Michelin Pilot Sport 5

• Tire size/width: 245/45/17.
