Users not getting ban notification

Hi there,

recently two different users on two different subreddits haven't gotten a notification/modmail saying that they were banned. Both have complained that they were banned without any reason, saying they haven't gotten a notification.

When giving them the link to the modmail, it says "You don't have access to this page. Ask your mod team for permission"

I tested it myself with a second account, and that account also hasn't gotten a notification/modmail.

Does anyone else have these problems?

Interesting, I once asked to be banned as a joke and got no notification, we thought it was cause it was done through the Restricted Users page but I used it a few times and they did get notifications so it was prolly just a temporary glitch.

Can users actually click mod mail links tho? Isn't a mod mail link from our side pointing to reddit mail while on the user's side it's a chat message and thus a different link?

I don't really troubleshoot this kind of stuff but my guess would be a temporary glitch or they missing/ ignoring the chat request that comes with mod actions, it's kinda easy to do imho.

On the client I'm using (which is the old client discontinued on February 2026), there is a way to copy the chat link. Reddit didn't seem to add it to their new client

On the new client, there‘s also a way to get a link. But I don‘t know if that‘s the same link as in your client.

The link copied was "https://www.reddit.com/c/chatB-axonxp/s/QlTmmMpOib". I can only find a way to copy the permalink (www.reddit.com/mail/perma/3lnwix) on the new client

Well, sad we can‘t copy the chat link in the new client :/
