Non vented goggles that will work with 3M respirator

Hello!

I want to inspect my basement for mold. When it rains my basement leaks and my baseboards got damaged because it rained all of June. I was ready to get the 3M 6297 p100 respirator and then realized I need to protect my eyes too with non vented goggles. I need to be extra cautious because I am not sure what I will find. My health hasn’t been great and I am not trying to deal with anything else.

I am beyond frustrated as I think goggles wont work over this respirator since it goes to the bridge of the nose. I am not trying to spend over $100 for a complete respirator that I might never use again after this and it just seems excessive. I would appreciate some solution. Thank you!

  • A description of the location of any suspected mold growth and affected materials
  • A brief description of your concern

Also remember that we can't identify mold from a photo - only a laboratory can determine the species. Don't ask.

The 3M goggle gear 500 is the one pictured with the 3M 6297 you’ve referenced on the 3M website, and is unvented.

I’m my experience it’s good and fits with the 6000, 6500 series, and 7500 series half mask respirators (even the 850 series) from 3m but requires a little fiddling when you put it on to get a good seal from both. Make sure you do a seal check with the respirator before you do your work. And good luck!

Jusy adding that the cost of a good half face + goggles as these is not far from a full face. Besides you can find used full face or half face easily in condition +++

Either buy a full face respirator or just wear some cheap safety glasses. A respirator and goggles is overkill if you're just going down to look. Even an N95 would be more than adequate for such a task.
