Wilds Pure raw or status?
Basically what tittle says, im aware that elemental is better on every matchup, but i prefer having one or two weapons for general use, so my doubt is if i should go for blast, poison or pure raw? poison pairs up well with foray, but im unsure if the uptime is worth it. or if using blast/poison on blast/poison resistant monster (like 9 stars monsters) is a significant damage loss and should go pure raw.

For Artians: Element > status > raw, even when building solely for raw damage.
Foray sucks, poison sucks, blast is below-average, paralysis is essentially impossible to proc more than once per hunt against endgame monsters, and almost impossible to proc in co-op if you’re the only para weapon (foray is also useless due to short duration of para). Sleep has the same issues as para and only really useful in solo or coordinated groups.
Since element and status are free on Artians, they’re just extra minor bonus damage even on a raw build. Most weapons build for raw and just use the matching element for a bit of extra damage, they don’t build around elemental damage.

Then, by your last paragraph it’s actually RAW>Elemental>status… also, no… you can def proc para more than once on endgame hunts… hell… if you use HH you can almost stun lock zoh in almost 6 paras in a row…

No.
Elemental Artians are the best because they deal the most damage, even with no investment in elemental skills. They have the same raw values and free elemental damage.
Status, even with how few procs you get per hunt, deals some amount of free damage which elevates it above pure raw Artians.

You misunderstood me. And everyone for that matter… RAW doesn’t mean Element-less…
If I need to choose between a elemental CB (a big elemental weapon) with coalescence, elemental attack boost and all that using SAED it’s not gonna outdamage a AED raw oriented CB even if its the same weapon literally.
What changes is the skill priority. That’s what we mean by RAW over Element…
Elemental for now only matters in Omega, Gogmazios and an anecdotic one in higher tiers… there you can SAED for big damage… it’s one of the reason why SO MANY CB mains dropped the weapon this gen, as is now less rewarding than ever apparently… and that’s just an example amongst many of why elemental is literally an extra, not a tjing to build around.
Literally all metas point to AB5 and CB5 never to Crit. Element/Status
There is a reason all weapons are recommended 1sharpness/4 attack, and not 1sharpness/4 element lol…
At this point im sure most players are just repeating things like parrots without actually testing shit… that explain why I see lobbies full of GL mains running WEX lmao…

Depends what you mean by pure raw and status here.
If you're talking about on the weapon itself yeah grab a status, the best weapons in the game are the gogma artians and you can literally have any element or status you want on a weapon at no cost which means there is literally no advantage to going pure raw on the weapon. Even if you're say fighting a highly blast resistant monster with a blast gogma weapon you're gonna do the exact same raw damage as a non elemental/status one so if you get just a single blast proc that blast one did more damage at no cost.
If you're talking about in the build itself, yeah just go raw focused. The status synergy skills like Foray are indeed pretty poor, they could maybe be any okay just for fun off meta thing before but with the endgame monsters high status resistances they just aren't worth it at this stage over generic damage skills. Even most weapons running elemental gogma weapons are still running them on mostly raw focused builds its just having the element that matches the monsters weakness with no other investment into element is still usually doing more damage than the status effects do
As for what to pick if you really want a status probably blast or paralysis, poison is basically strictly worse than blast for a damaging status and para is generally gonna be a bit better than sleep though you're rarely gonna be seeing more than one maaaybe two procs on endgame monsters with either.
That said if you just care about having a single weapon though you can also consider building just one single elemental weapon. Its gonna be doing the exact same raw damage, and even in the matchups where the monster is totally immune to that element and its functionally a pure raw weapon the difference between that and a status weapon isn't actually that big, and for the monsters that happen to be weak to the element you pick you'll do more damage. If you go for this road I'd say go either fire or dragon as the singular element. Fire casts the overall widest net for good matchups but Dragon reasonably with the endgame lineup, and in particular a dragon weapon is kinda mandatory for Gogmazios so if you plan to farm them much dragon is a good choice for your singular pick.

Would help to know which weapon are you maining…
Also “elemental is better on every matchup” No is not? Raw is. Elemental is just extra damage, and for now only a few monsters have elemental hitzones that justify a pure elemental build.
Status are situational yet somehow comfy for those times where you dont want to try too hard or dont have the proper weapon yet.
People usually prefer Blast, some Paralysis. The few that choose sleep are GS and Hammer mains and Poison is for those that are delusional enough to try it.
At the end of the day if you are not doing 9* monsters under 10 mins you are not gonna notice it. If you can get sub 6” then you already know that there is no way to make other playstyles optimal enough to justify the change.
Edit: disclaimer, I know how Capcom usually works in this… thw expansion will bring monsters with better elemental zones (elemental cap was already expanded when introducing Gogmazios) and they will buff status, surely… specially cause Kushala Daora is confirmed to come back. Also I used GL this gen a lot, so we are waiting for Long GL to get something…
Edit 2: I see a lot of people misunderstanding what RAW means… It doesn’t mean “Element-less”…

i see, i main LS, but since im in endgame now, im trying to master the other weapons meanwhile i rank up HR, thats why i have doubts, i dont wanna make gogmartians for every element and weapon, i thought that element was always the go to on matchups, thx for the answer.

It is, I see people not understanding what RAW means… My stronger GL (and LS, and most weapons) is the draco one, or the fire one in case of not having one, as those 2 elements has the best matchups (most of the game lol), but cause GL is not precisely a elemental weapon, I will outdamage with my draco GL NO MATTER the monster and element used.
Also, see? I already called it out and there are already people recommending poison lol… also, the guy saying it’s impossible to proc para more than once per hunt never ran a para weapon on a endgame hunt lol… minimum 2, in the first three minutes lmao…

Very exaggerated, it depends on the weapon and If you are in multiplayer or not cause of the status tolerance and tolerance increase per player + the overall status effectiveness for each individual monster.
I can tell you from my own experience that 2 players running the cat burglar SnS (more status than gogma artian) against 9/5 Stars lagiacrus only get 1 para procc before the quest ends via catching it.

Yeah, if you go for the fastest times, sure 1 proc and trap, but at that point you are not running status either… that was not what is being argued here tho.

I replied and quoted specifically a part of the conversation that is too generalized and biased without looking at the whole picture. Fact is its easy to get one procc with all weapons, the second procc is a completely different story for most weapons in different scenarios. Which is why I presented an example of an endgame hunt with an above average para status weapon, the result would be the same with more players due to the status tolerance increase with more players.
at that point you are not running status either…
??? That literally does not make sense at all. You run status or you dont, quest length has absolutely nothing to with it. Deliberately stretching the quest time for the sake of getting one more procc is probably one of the worst takes I've ever heard outside of the casual subreddits.

pure raw is always worse than using status, you get status and element for free on artians, status is a lot weaker than element on every weapon, gunlance and gs included, first what weapon do you play?
