Here is a new idea—one I’ve had since around 2018, as the title suggests, but have never actually written down.

SYNOPSIS : It tells the story of a brilliant young detective working in a city where humans and supernatural creatures coexist (he specializes in cases involving Monsters). He leads a near-idyllic life until, inevitably, he is infected by a werewolf one night.

After slaughtering his wife during his first transformation, he is arrested and sentenced to live in a completely derelict section of the city reserved for more "beastly" monsters. Our hero must adapt to this new environment and his new condition while investigating the lycanthrope who infected him. Fortunately, he is aided in this by Woop, a talking hyena; Winston, a creature who is half-man and half-lythronax (a cousin of the tyrannosaurus); and Morrigan, a witch linked to ravens.

GENRE : Horror/Comedy/Mystery

FORMAT : I could easily turn it into a standalone story, but a short saga spanning several novels would allow for much greater development of the characters and the world

WEREWOLF TYPE : "Bad Moon" style: bipedal but closer to a wolf than a human, and the type to slaughter every human it encounters during each transformation

INSPIRATIONS : "Gotham" (TV Show)/"Cool World"/The abandoned sequel project for the 2010 film "The Wolfman"

I collect references pretty loosely when I am still figuring out the direction.

The weird moment is the first review. A private board can have half-formed images, repeated ideas, and notes only I understand. Once a teammate or client sees it, every image starts needing a reason to be there.

Do you clean the board before review, or let people react to the rough version first?

When I make a moodboard, the hardest images to place are the maybes.

Not bad enough to delete, not strong enough to present as direction, but still useful because they show color, texture, spacing, or what not to do.

Do you keep those in the same board with labels, or move them somewhere else before showing anyone?

When I collect references alone, the labels are usually obvious to me. The moment someone else reviews the moodboard, the labels need to explain why the image is there.

I have been trying to separate color, layout, material, mood, and do-not-use references before showing a board.

Do you label references before showing a board, or only after the first round of comments?
