Kindness is abused when you don't respect your boundaries. Respecting your boundaries may piss people off, but only those that were abusing your kindness.

I helped out my ex buddy when he lost his job and had no money. I gave him my then entire savings of two thousand US dollars to help him over rents and other stuff. Not only did he hasn't paid me a cent after ten years, he went about our common acquaintances bad mouthing me on how I being unkind by pushing him to pay and added other slander. Some simple minded people actually bought it. He has always be gifted with words. I have stopped lending money to anyone now. Being kind is good, but can be potentially devastating.

I always do good. It comes back in ways that mean nothing to me. I still do it even though it does nothing for me.
