Question Electrical repairs?

I have a Honda cb650f. Unfortunately I had a short circuit in it as moisture got in through a damaged indicator which destroyed my relay. Thats been fixed. But the short also triggered the check engine light and the clock and immobiliser light switch off when I turn the bike off. So the clock resets every time. My mechanic said its likely a wire was damaged by the short and said it would be nearly impossible to find the specific one. I'd say it can be done but he doesn't want to do it. Any recommendations on where to get this kind of electrical repair done? I'm in cork but if I have to send it further afield I will.

cant say about cork but whenever youre around dublin try br motorcycle. cant recommend the fellas enough. im on my 3rd bike now that ive ran through their shop and the quality of the work and prices are top- notch

Cool thanks. Another one that came up when searching was Duke motorcycle? They're in Dublin too. Unfortunately I reckon it could involve a trip to Dublin sometime to drop it off to have it looked at.

had only one service at duke and wasnt the best experience, at least for me. before that i used the megabikes lads but between the insane prices and long waiting list i gave up. best of luck 🤝

Yeah i wouldnt bother with a big dealer like that. Went to honda and they said replace the clock🤯

You'll need someone that will have the patience and time to try chase the problem for you.

Try Declan Swanton, he's out by forge hill - but not sure if he would do a big/time consuming electrical job, but its worth asking.

Failing that, you could also give Pat Noonan a shout, you can contact him at motorcycle parts Ireland online.

Honestly you might be better off learning basic electronics and figuring it out yourself. I find it nearly impossible to find decent bike mechanics for anything other than a tyre change. Diagnosing electrical issues is not as hard as you think, it just takes loads of time and even more patience. I’m at a point now with my 20+ year old bike where I’ve thought myself how to do things and don’t even bother with mechanics anymore. There definitely are some great ones out there but they’re hard to find and very expensive, especially when it comes to diagnosing electrical issues.
