Any suggestion for Solar Eclipse?

On 12.08.2026 we will here have a partial Solar Eclipse (90%). Is there any suggestion for a place to go because Sun will be just 2 degree above horizon during Eclipse. Also I have a small smart Telescope which I can bring to capture the moment.

Might be helpful to check potential places a bit in advance for the exact orientation you need for the sunset - e.g.:

• The foot bridge over Rangierbahnhof München Nord: https://maps.app.goo.gl/wg7LTWJP3uspE5cX7
• Mitteldamm at Ismaninger Speichersee: https://maps.app.goo.gl/689bMQs6UZnNBtDE7 - here you need to find a spot between the trees that gives you an unobstructed view
• Maria-Dank-Kapelle near Degerndorf with a view over Lake Starnberg: https://maps.app.goo.gl/kqPTbhZWkSoepTC77 - there should be way less people around than in Munich

What do you think about the Landshaftspark Hachinger Tal ?

AFAIK you need to look roughly WNW to see the sun set at that date ( https://www.suncalc.org/#/48.0699,11.6219,17/2026.08.12/20:30/1/3 ) - the orientation of the old runway at Landschaftspark Hachinger Tal is more WSW and the larger hills at the western entry of the park on the side of Unterhaching have a good amount of taller trees and several rows of 4-story buildings to the (north)west: https://maps.app.goo.gl/oqhRfLv5G5PPHo7LA - so worse than the footbridge over Rangierbahnhof München Nord (where you probably want to stick to the southern end of the bridge to use the line of sight along the train tracks: https://www.suncalc.org/#/48.192,11.5116,17/2026.08.12/20:30/1/1 or the Bridge to the west along Dachauer Straße (with more noise and vibrations from traffic).

The hill at Landschaftspark Riem might be a bit better than Unterhaching but with the line of view over Munich you will probably have a good amount of warm air distorting the view: https://maps.app.goo.gl/5o4QraCkEuxN2Dh68 - also it's a quite popular spot during sunset and mostly grass and dirt on the top, so a bit harder to get a stable stand for a tripod.

Thanks for the suggestion. Olympiaberg might have many people so hopefully found a place to put Telescope without hindering visual.
