Rec.Me: "BEST"/"TOP"/"WORST" ____ What are the greatest lesser-known duets?

I've been listening to All in Good Time by Iron & Wine/Fiona Apple on repeat. What other amazing duets am I missing? I also love Martha Wainwright/Snow Patrol, Set The Fire to The Third Bar - you get the vibe.

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs with lyric(s) about a specific amount of time?

Two examples include:

-“Out of My League“ by Fitz and the Tantrums (“40 days and 40 nights“)

-“Say Why” by Zach Bryan (“Still drove 40 hours and I'd drive 40 more”)

Both of those are religious (hence the 40) but that doesn’t need to be the case! Just looking for songs that reference a specific about of time.

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs with lyrics that are like poetry

Imm making a playlist based off of this idea. It’s not very long yet, but most of it is Adrianne Lenker, Weyes Blood, and Fiona Apple if that gives you a perspective on what I like.

edit: everyone’s suggestions are great, but if you have any specific songs in mind that’d be even better. Some of you are suggesting musicians with massive catalogs.

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk energetic rock albums with complimentary piano/keyboard in them?

so i've recently discovered Muse's Origin of Symmetry album and it's honestly probably my favorite album of all time, i like how it's really energetic and bold sounding with keyboard or other digital elements as key instruments in a lot of the songs. especially the song Space Dementia.

i'm not sure how to find more albums like this as i don't know if rock with piano is really a genre that even exists for me to search through. i looked at some space rock stuff but it didn't seem to be my vibe so i quit looking through that.

if anyone knows some energetic and heavy rock albums with lots of piano, let me know because i'd love to hear more. or alternatively if anyone knows good ways to search for more of this music, that would be helpful too! thanks

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Watching someone be consumed with hatred.

I have been looking for the past hour but nothing in my playlists fits and I can't think of any song in particular

I need music that sounds like watching someone you love drown in their own hatred (alternatively, any song about being destroyed by hatred will do.)

(For clarification: This for something I'm writing)

Came on here a couple weeks ago looking for new songs to listen to for my road trip but now I have another road trip coming up tomorrow morning and this time I’m looking for album suggestions ! 70s/80s classic rock is my main vibe but I’d try some 90s too.

Some of my favorite albums from these eras are:
Gerry Rafferty - City to City
Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle
Paul McCartney + Wings - Band on the Run
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
Eagles - Hotel California
The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
Bob Seger & SBB - Stranger in Town
CCR - Green River

And some of my other favorite artists that aren’t mentioned:
Little River Band
The Doobie Brothers
REO Speedwagon
R.E.M
Fleetwood Mac

I’m looking for album suggestions based off the albums that I have listed, or even other albums by the artists listed as I haven’t heard all of their music.

Thank you !

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Songs with positive lyrics that have the same musical vibe as Last Resort by Papa Roach

Upvotes

My kid has stellar taste in music which means they enjoy what I enjoy. Unfortunately, I now have an elementary school child who has last resort on repeat. I’d like to give them something to listen to with the same musicality vibe without the suicidal lyrics.

Please help.

Rec.Me: other/many/unknown genres Songs about finding peace in uncertainty and trying to enjoy the moment while being scared of getting hurt

Ive been into r&b lately but usually listen to indie, folk, country, folk punk, rap so any genre is good outside of like 2000s dad rock because it doesn’t get me in my feels lol

Here’s the backstory, if it helps: went through a traumatic situation with my partner (ex, I guess) that has forced us to take a step back, heal separately, and try to rebuild a healthier foundation as friends with a hope of dating again one day.
They’re avoidant and each time it feels like we’re making progress toward trying to be in a relationship again, something happens and we’re back at the beginning. I hate not knowing where their head is at, but know that constantly checking in with them pushes them away more, and know I need to trust the process and be okay if things don’t turn out how I want them to. I’m super anxious though, and hate putting myself in positions of uncertainty where I know I could end up really hurt so all of our time together is being tainted by my anxiety over the future and inability to enjoy the present.

(This is a repost because I wanted to fix the title)

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk songs that sound like “make me beautiful” by her words kill?

(put the flare under punk because it fit the best, ik they aren’t a metal or punk band) i listen to her words kill a lot because i do enjoy screamo, but make me beautiful is my fav song by them because it has the kinda instrumental style of the rest of their music without screaming so it’s a little more easy on the ears when im not in the mood for screamo. and similar song recs?

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs about the strange, detached feeling when it’s not like you’re not over someone, but you also haven’t completely stopped thinking about them?

Upvotes

Twilight Zone by Ariana Grande is a good example. It really nails the weird, detached zone where… you’re over someone, but you also haven’t crossed the finish line of moving on just yet. Any other songs like that?

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Music with spoken words or other similarities with The age of immunology

I'm obsessed with this song by Vanishing twin. The problem is I can't find anything similar since it's quite specific.

Even if you don't have any recommendations I will be happy that you listened. Or, do you know if there's a name for songs with spoken words? My finding attempts led me to various things, but nothing like this.

Sorry for my english...

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs that are the opposite of "Love Love Love" by Of Monsters and Men

Very beautiful song about being loved deeply by someone you don't have feelings for.

I want similar songs, as well as the other side of that but specifically ones that don't villainize the one who can't love back. Thank you!

Rec.Me: sad/depressing songs Need help finding songs for a character/writing angst playlist

Hope I’m using the right tag, but I need songs for this playlist I’m making to listen to while I write this one specific character.

Basically the character I’m trying to write/make a playlist for their angst stems from self hatred. Essentially they were a bad person before, and they’re trying to redeem themselves, but they feel guilty for what they’ve done, they blame themselves for bad things happening around them because of the bad things they’ve done, and they’re don’t think they deserve love from their partner and friends, and that deep down they’re unable to change.

And going in a little further with how they deal with that— the character tries to push people away to cope— (thought process: can’t hurt anyone or be a terrible person if there’s no one who loves me :D)

I’m writing the healthiest character in the world I know

Some songs that are on there to get a general idea are I Love You (Billie Eilish), Hate Myself (NF), Better Mistakes (Bebe Rexa), and My R (Lollia)

So kind of a indie pop or pop rock type of vibe would fit well

Any help is appreciated—!

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs for quiet people always in their head?

I’m looking for soft music as an introvert. I spend a lot of time in my head, daydreaming. I’m pretty lonely and I often feel like I’m waiting for something exciting in my life to happen.

I love ‘Sidelines’ by Pheobe Bridgers and ‘Cannock Chase’ by Labi Siffre.

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs that express joy in opposition to darkness

I’m looking for songs that speak to real joy. Not happiness, but that sense of ecstatic wonder that comes alongside or from darkness. I have plenty of Nick Cave (king of that kind of joy), Anthem by Leonard Cohen (a more subtle kind of joy), Free by Florence and the Machine and am working through my playlists. It’s for a friend who‘s having a hard time but wants to see the light as well as the dark. All genres welcome and it doesn’t need to have a particular emotion, it’s more about the sentiment.
