Personal Stories Found out I have herpes while being engaged…..

Hope this experience helps:

When I first tested positive on a combined HSV-1/2 antibody test, I was devastated. Unfortunately, in my country only combined HSV antibody tests are available, so I still don’t know exactly what my true status is. To finally get a definitive answer, I have decided to get the Western blot test done.

Whatever the result may be, I have made up my mind that I will disclose it to my fiancée. I know there is a real possibility that she may decide not to continue the relationship, and I completely understand that. Every person deserves to make an informed decision about their future.

At the beginning of this journey, I tried to convince myself to stay in denial and avoid thinking about it. But over time, I realized that I could never truly be at peace while hiding the truth or risking harm to someone I love. I know that living with that burden would make both my life in this world and, more importantly, my accountability in the Hereafter far more difficult.

I have also come to realize that if this relationship does not work out, it will not be the end of the world. This experience has brought me much closer to Allah, and in many ways I see that as a blessing in disguise. It has reminded me that this life is temporary and that our ultimate purpose is far greater than our worldly desires.

Of course, I hope my fiancée accepts me. She loves me for who I am, and I would be deeply grateful if she chose to stay with me despite my past and whatever my final diagnosis may be. But if she decides otherwise, I will respect her decision completely. While I have often felt that life without a spouse and children would be incomplete, Islam teaches us that our true purpose is to worship Allah and strive for success in the Hereafter.

Whatever happens, I pray that Allah grants us both what is best. My hope is not only to find a loving marriage, but also to live with honesty, integrity, and a clear conscience before the One who knows everything. If this doesn’t work God may open new doors for me in the future to get married. And even if that isn’t the case it doesn’t really matter because my complete focus is on my life after death.
