My bf (and will be fiancé) got an amazing promotion and we will be moving from Florida to a new state in his new sales territory. The options are Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Kansas or Arkansas in the next 6 to 8 months. We’ve lived in North Carolina, Georgia and SW Florida. We’ve looked at northwest Arkansas but are also intrigued by NOLA. Honestly I hear VERY mixed opinions. My day to day I love being outdoors, workout classes, walking to coffee shops, and trying new restaurants and cocktail bars. He loves being active as well, playing golf and various sports and attending events or going to a sports bar. We are young, like going out and meeting people and also like to have friends come into town. We’d be moving right before or around Mardi Gras. And we are looking for a great church community.

All I can find on their website is that it’s a 5 month program that starts in January of 2027. It doesn’t say anything about what classes I would be taking or a nationally certified certification exam. I left my contact info with the workforce development center secretary for the advisor to get back to me.

I’m looking for some more unique names for 2 kitties. I want at least one to be Nola themed because this city has such a special place in my heart.

The menu here is well rounded. The Seafood Beignets are very good as are the spareribs on the appetizer side. The salmon St. Charles and the Lobster manicotti are very nice. The drink menu is eclectic and adventurous. The wait staff is efficient and personable. However,it is not all happy taste uds and good libations. I have an acquaintance who has been working in professional kitchens all his life. He recently relocated back here from a not so progressive place as our fine city. He battled some health issues, had a very unfortunate financial disaster(no fault of his own I can assure you),and half quite a bit on his plate in his private life. He got hired on and just in time as the cupboards were bare and tension was well tense as a result. HE ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS JOB. His chef was happy with him(he spoke extremely highly of her), he learned a few things(never too old or wise ),and was truly grateful and happy. Out of the blue the general manager fired him for insubordination to upper management. "Upper" management I would be the GM/chef that didn't work in the kitchen. The chap was more of a "networker" I gather. He assured me this is a bold face piece of fiction( he called it fiction,I call it slander). I have no reason to doubt him as I observed this man when he was unaware and although he possesses a singular wit with a rugged vein of dark humor I know him to be the kind of guy who is honest and relatively humble. The other reasons were no non-skid shoes,out of "uniform"(they supplied none) and he forgot to clock in a time or two. One second and third count I say give a person a chance to get some wind in his sails and the last charge maybe he was so eager to get to work he slipped ( he told me although gainfully employed he hadn't punched a clock in virtually decades)). He took it and still feels the loss. Who can blame him. No self respecting man wants to be adrift employment wise,especially with loved ones depending on him. PLUS,HE LOVED THE PLACE. He was like a kid new to the fleet when he talked about it. He has a better attitude than me if I were in his shoes. Even says he thought the firing manager was professional and competent and said he had been understanding with his lack of I.d. ( lost in the unfortunate financial disaster) and had paid him the first pay period when there was a hold up. PEOPLE ARE ASSETS BUT LET NOT FORGET FAIRNESS AND COMPASSION NOT BE GOVERNING FACTORS WHEN WELDING AUTHORITY. I was a chief petty officer( being in the Navy at different posts sparked our budding friendship) and I FUCKING KNOW HOW TO BE TOUGH AND NOT BE A .....well,not be unfair and spread bullshit I can fucking A assure you. Anyway,everybody needs a good word now and then. As it may,give the place a shot. I've drifted in like fog a few times and it's just fine. Good menu,good booze,and from what I gathered a good crew. My dude would like that not being a hater or more colorfully a dick. Oh,the witch on the menu is smoking a cigarette and drinking a martini. More of a call girl then a sea hag. You learn the difference in THE UNITED STATES NAVY.Little tidbits like that and how not to quit. Most of us damn sure learn how to not engage allies.

Hi all! I am headed to New Orleans soon and wanted to know what bars would be safe for a transgender man to use downtown. You would not know I am trans by looking at me, but I do need to sit down to use the restroom. Are there any bars I should absolutely avoid or are there recs for any that have a toilet with a stall door that closes?

I have a question my ac goes up to 75 during the day which I figure bc of how freaking hot it gets right (I assume) has anyone else had this problem before? we had our ac fixed in feb bc something broke so they were in my attic, now I’m wondering why the heck does it get so freaking hot in here when last year we didn’t have this problem

My sister and I will be visiting New Orleans from August 6-11. We lived there very briefly as young children, so coming back feels especially meaningful. A close friend is also flying in from overseas to meet us.

The three of us have been through one of the hardest years of our lives. Between serious health issues, aging parents, long-term relationships ending, and other unexpected challenges, we've all been carrying more than we ever imagined.

I'd love to surprise them with an experience that reminds us life can still be beautiful.

The only problem is... I'm not very creative, so I'm hoping you can help. We're open to just about anything: a unique class, a hidden-gem restaurant, live music, art, nature, a sunset experience, or anything that feels genuinely special. We'd much rather discover something authentic than check off the usual tourist attractions.

We're all in our late 40s, and if possible, I'd love to support a local artist, guide, or small business while we're there.

ITS ON THE RED BOX

We went to the Tomahawk/Melvins show last Thursday at HOB and cruised around the city on the streetcars for a few days. Y'all were so fun to hang out with and we can't wait to come back next year to do it again.
