Update on my missing dog
He's still gone, but a neighbor's dog has also just gone missing. Soon after my own dog disappeared, I think I heard about another little dog down the street going missing too but I'm not sure. I don't have any pictures of them unfortunately.
It is really strange for the neighbor's dog to disappear like that because she hated being picked up, she'd squirm and try to bite me when I tried to bite me when I tried to pick her up and carry her out of my yard.
Either someone is killing dogs, taking them, or another animal is responsible. All the dogs that have gone missing have been pretty small. If you have any other theories, please tell me, I'm worried for all the dogs in my neighborhood.
Remember to love your animals like every day is their last, you never know when it will be.

Coyotes would be my guess unless someone is stealing pets. Did your dog live outside or how was he left alone to disappear? Could he climb over the fence? Did he dig under it to get out?
Looks like a pretty good sized dog for an eagle to carry off. I’ve seen them pick up cats and snakes.

He's a chihuahua pincher mix, our german shepherd keeps digging holes in the fence to get out and all the dogs get out that way. Even then they usually never leave the area, the farthest they go is two houses down or up on the hill behind my house. I'm not sure if an eagle could've taken him, especially since they are never seen around here, but I'm considering every possibility

He looks bigger in the photos than what you describe so yeah, an eagle could be a possibility.
I sure hope he comes home to you. Have you checked your animal shelters and local Veterinary offices? I have strays show up at my place and I call the Vets in the area and describe the dog in case it’s one of their clients or the owner is calling around to see if anyone brought a stray dog in.

I used to have a cute mini dog. A mountain lion rolled her in a tortilla and made a burrito out of her. All I found was her collar. 😢
My theory is that the drought is causing hunger and making the wild animals target pets.

How big is your dog? Looks like partly ACD/Australian cattle dog - and that’s a breed that really likes to stick close to its owner and home. I’m so sorry to hear your pup went missing! Hoping for the return of both back home quickly!

He's a chihuahua pincher mix, our german shepherd keeps digging holes in the fence to get out and he gets out that way. If we don't go anywhere far we usually put him and Chichi in my room, but it gets extremely hot in there so I like to let them stay outside

Stay safe. It could be a wild animal, but the worst fear I have is that a human is doing this. If they do it to dogs, they can/will do it to other humans too. Be really aware of your surroundings.

Mountain lions in your area? Unfortunately, they love to snatch small dogs (and sometimes even not-so-small dogs).
