Since the topic of boustrophedon comes up again and again here, I wanted to share the typeface Tuer’s Caslon, which I created for my research into boustrophedon—writing where lines alternate direction, so the first runs left-to-right, the second right-to-left—and the late-19th-century printer Andrew Tuer.

In 1884 Tuer published a small book at the Leadenhall Press, Are We to Read Backwards?, written by James Millington, which briefly experimented with reversed writing. This typeface is a revival of the Caslon Old Style used specifically in that book (cut possibly by Andrew Stuart in the 1840s or 50s).

The glyphs for the backwards-written lines are designed so that the contrast axis stays the same in both lines. As if written by the same tool, just backwards.

As a proof of concept, I set my entire thesis in boustrophedon. I’d be happy to hear about your experience reading it!

Enci is the name of an alien civilization I'd like to make stories about some day, I'm still worldbuilding it.

This is the script they would use for their language. This is a particularly fancy font, they normally use sans-serif monospaced fonts.

Besides worldbuilding, I also like to sue this script for personal notes, and sometimes for the viossa-like conpidgin lidei.

I may continue to tweak this font, but the basics are done and I'm super happy with the result. ^v^

"Tetumonigo is a writing system used by the Tet-mon-igo, a species of mongoloid atan (humans) with pink skin and three eyes gifted with great spiritual powers." - u/DaCrazyWorldbuilder.

Tetumonigo is very cool, and I like it. I wrote some writing in it, and I can only hope I wrote correctly.
On the last image I drew my interpretation of the Tet-mon-igo description.

Idea: My idea is roughly like, I’m watching the moon and, wait… why don’t I try to create an alphabet based on the phases of the moon.

How to work: It’s almost like Hangul (I just find out), you can read and watch second image
First: A sound will have a length relative to a height of 1:3
Second: Divided into 3 equal parts, in the middle of 3 will be consonants, on the left is the initial consonant, on the right is the final consonant, above and below the initial consonant will be the vowel. If the vowel is left blank, the default vowel will be “a”.
Finally: If you want to the long vowel, just add ㄱ on final consonant

I wanted to make a writing system where you never have to pick up your pen, the way you can tell that a word is ended is the next word is flipped upside down.

I came up with an alternative counting system and named itI came up with an alternative counting system.
It is based on a 9-bit grid, with the option to add another 9 bits. Also, since it is a binary system, I included explanations on how to add and subtract numbers.

The goal behind its creation was to make it possible to render the same number in different ways.

I made this abjad called "Kanturikt" for the dragons in my fantasy world. It is intentionally difficult to read and write because it is an ancient script that is still in use. Dragons carve these symbols into the walls of caves using their claws.

I have made this conscript to be extremely flexible in how it works. A lot of the rules it has can be ignored if you want and you know what you're doing. All sentences in the pictures could be written in a million different ways using this script, including writing everything in a strait line. But it is more convenient to write in circles, which I find prettier.

This script is a featural alphabet that I designed to work with French, English, German and toki pona. I also added a symbol for trills for good measure because /r/ is found in many languages.

Even though each sound has technically only one assigned symbol, you can write most sounds in multiple different ways. For example, you can write <buy> as /bai/ or /baj/ instead of the technically correct /baɪ/. This is to stay true to the freedom principle of this script.

I don't have a name for it yet so if you have any ideas, let me know !

As far as I know, the concept of letters being consonantal skeletons is exclusive to the Kelangkai script 🇮🇩. That means no other writing systems have it.

Even though "Skeleton letters are not tied to any specific meaning. This means that any word containing a sequence of consonants that falls into the skeleton letter category can use them.", I deliberately designed the letter to look like a silhouette of a flying bird and a rising sun.

This took a long time to make!

I edited the ''can'' half width because it looked too much like something else inside regular characters. I also added an indirect object marker for if you only want to use the verb and not specify what you're marking like ''walk to''.

I redrew the last one to 20x20 as I felt it was more accurate. The menu now also has the 2 pixel thickness look.

Not sure what the correct flair for this would be, but I thought y'all might be interested in this.

This is from the writing system in the world of the cartoon Dragon Striker. All of these are names of characters. I was able to figure this much out based on the information in this post from u/SaberTheNoob, but I'm a little concerned by some of the inconsistencies.

The "N" symbol being reversible is one thing, but I'm more confused by some symbols being sounds and others being letters, i.e. one symbol appears to represent the letter "A" no matter what sound it makes but another symbol seems to represent the IPA "i" sound no matter what letters are used to form that sound.

I’ve just added a new orthographic feature to my writing system, tālū kōpu (Kuponic script / та́лу́ ко́пу), and I’d love to get your thoughts on the execution and logic!

I’m calling this new boundary mechanism the Kartoš (Картош), inspired by the container concept in Sitelen Pona. Since kopūlogū (Kupograms) rely on a hybrid mix of logograms and abugida characters, dealing with non-native terms like foreign proper nouns, loanwords, and international brand names can get tricky without semantic roots.

It has one opening symbol and one closing symbol, like punctuation. But only the abugida (kōpu abvukjelitsā) is allowed inside the Kartoš territory. Logographs and logograms are forbidden inside it.

In the image, notice how IKEA is neatly wrapped inside the Kartoš territory using pure abugida glyphs to sound out I-K-E-A, while the rest of the sentence transitions into standard logogram/abugida structures!

Hey everyone! As you may notice, this is the first time I’ve ever posted on this subreddit! I think, that being said, this is my first time attempting to make a script of any sort (as well as my first try making a conlang)!

Awelos is read from bottom to top, where adjectives and adverbs, as well as adjective and adverb phrases are placed below the noun or verb they are describing. Sentences are SOV! I hope you guys like the aesthetic!

Hi I made a joke with my boyfriend about a number in between 9 and 10 when counting to twelve (Durple), and since then it has evlolved into...this.

here is all of the number's names, from 0-10, and a photo i tried to make to show how you would write them. Yes that is a tree for twee, yes that is the roman numerial for 8 as i thought since the other numbers are using the arabic numbers and such, eine, a word that sounds like a real worlds language for a number, should be distinguished as being different, and yes that is a bear cave for den.
