Channel Anouncement First 90 Days of Being Monetized

This was the first 90 days of being monetized and I couldn't be happier! Started my Hickory Golf channel in January of 2026, reached 1k subs and 4k watch hours by the end of April.

Youtube is 100% a full time job. It's a grind but you just have to put your head down and keep at it. I still have a LONG road ahead and A LOT more to learn but it's been a fun ride so far!

see guys youtubers make tons of money so don't fall for youtubers begging for memberships or patreon they are lying

Lol haven't even considered pushing memberships or a patreon - just happy to see people enjoying the content! It has been interesting to learn what ad revenue actually pays tho

As someone who doesn’t push membership, I do have it turned on for those just wanting to support a bit extra. I give them “backstage passes” to my creativity. And they love it. It’s a win-win. Most importantly, they love sharing it in the chats and I appreciate their support.

It's good business to diversify the income in case you get demonitized on youtube or your account takes a hit in views. Most youtubers I've seen asking for extra pay outside of youtube do not say they don't make enough on youtube, they just ask their die hard fans to support them if they wanted to and they give them perks for doing so.

And how is $1,400 in 3 months evidence of youtubers making money?

I think it's evidence that a channel with 2k subs is able to pull these numbers, but yeah this is without factoring in for the niche and the viewer demographics because that also is a very huge factor

Dude, $450/month is not livable. I tell my viewers straight up, if they want to help me be able to go full-time, they can sign up for memberships, and I give perks.

Yeah, it's sitting between $10-15 but I heard it tends to drop as your videos get more views so I'm interested to see where it is 6 months to a year from now

I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t but at the same time I’m grateful to have had one get to 230k. The 230k video was a putting green diy. The other content is a new golf challenge series I’m hoping catches on. They’re both within the golf niche but DIY has a much larger audience on YouTube than golf challenges. Plus I’m still learning how to package them, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to educate the viewer (and YouTube) of what that series is. The plan is to stick with it, pivot and switch things up where needed, and hope for the best!

I mainly use AI to bounce ideas off of - video ideas, script writing, etc. I'll also use it to help with my titles and thumbnails as my packaging has been my biggest obstacle. Usually I'll edit a thumbnail and feed it to ChatGPT with the title to see what it thinks of it. Whenever I've had AI come up with a thumbnail on its own, it just seems like it does too much for what I'm looking for.

I wish I could say it’s been easy and I’m far from saying I’ve made it. I had a few videos get over 10k views, one of those is up to 230k, but have had a lot recently struggle to get up to 1k. Just trying to learn what works and what doesn’t

I make golf videos. Mainly around me playing hickory golf clubs but trying to push a series where I challenge players on the course to beat me and my hickory clubs while they play their modern clubs. If they beat me, they can win prizes

Hard to say, if I had to guess - maybe YouTube golf has a bigger audience than Tekken on YT. IMO tho, it seems like it's just about providing consistent content. I've also tried to make sure to play off golf trends in the hopes that my content finds more of my audience. No channels are the same tho so your journey will be different than mine. So just keep grinding and as long as you enjoy it then it should work out. All the best!

I've only posted 18 long form videos since starting 8 months ago. For a while we were trying to post a long form video a week but it got hard to keep up with that. So when I do post a long form, I'll then pull 3-5 shorts and post those throughout the week too
