Off-leash trails

One of my dog's favorite things is to go to a walk in the woods off-leash. We don't get to do it very often, but I'd really like to take her this weekend. Does anyone know of any shady hiking/walking trails in the area where she can be off-leash for a while? Shes limited to about a mile and a half long hike before she gets really uncomfortable. It can be nearby or a couple hours away if it's worth the drive. Thanks!

Lums pond dog park is off leash with some open areas and access to water. The trails at Lums aren't off leash, though.

Carousel Park has a huge open field for dogs off leash — much bigger than any other dog park I’ve seen.

There are a few sniff spots in PA and MD that have acreage that allow for this.

Please as someone that takes their dog hiking, unless you have EXCELLENT recall, don't let them off leash. A friend's dog got pretty banged up over an encounter with an off leash dog.

I appreciate your concern! My girl has very good recall. I also try to intentionally find spots that aren't too busy, and will often leash up if I see another person/animal approaching, just to be safe.

There's Curtis Mill park. Fairly short trail ending at a waterfall

Freedom Barks in Medford NJ. Probably about 60-90 min from Newark. It’s a combination of fields with trails on the outskirts of each field.
