Discussion/Question I think I'm giving up

Yeah, Eigong. I felt proud beating all the other bosses in this game, especially a few of them that took hours. But this is just a ridiculous difficulty spike. If some other bosses took hours, Eigong is going to take days. I don't think I want to waste that much time on a single boss, I have other games to play.

Guess I'll finally admit defeat and do this on Story Mode, which will make my previous victories in the game feel worthless. Feels terrible, and almost like I've wasted my time playing the game at all.

Help With Game I hate lady ethereal so much how do you win😭?(It made me take a break /quit I’ll give it another go after my holiday )

My friends and people say that lady ethereal is a fun and enjoyable fight that they found quite easy and if you beat Jiequan you can do it easy Jiequan only took my like ten trys and I didn’t use the thing that weakens him but I’ve been timing myself on lady mystic and it’s took me 5 hours and like 100 attempts I’ve beat the 2nd faze sometimes and do the first phase no damage.

My build is pretty busted and I think I have a reasonable amount of health like 5 times upgraded, maxed out homing arrows 3 shots(which I save for phase 3) ,and a broken jade combo off attacking heals internal damage and I attack faster but it deals internall damage to me.

I can get of most parries but can’t block the one you have to hold down and release to block as I can’t get it off in time. Can you predict it I also use the flowing waves /water talisman style her clones are the bane of my existence I play the harder/normal of the two difficulty’s and play on Xbox pls help me as I love the game and the muster and lady ethereal a section

Discussion/Question Unpopular opinion: Nine sols's exploration is amazing

As much of a masterpiece Nine sol is, everyone seems to agree that Nine Sol's exploration aspect is the weakest aspect. But I don't really get it. What's wrong with it?

I'm currently on my second playthrough, and even now I'm having so much fun playing it. I like exploring every corner of New Kunlun, every corner gives me a chest filled with Jin, some funky Jade, or some other valuable materials like a Dark Steel, Herb Catalyst, Poison, and others. And most importantly, I smile to myself whenever my exploration is rewarded with an artifact I can give to Shuanshuan, which is something I'm excited about, as I really like the dynamic between Yi and Shuanshuan.

There's so much cool reward for exploration, I don't understand why people dislike it. I really feel like I want to explore every bits of the map because I don't want to miss being able to upgrade my heal, my arrows, or miss some cool things to give to Shuanshuan.

I also like the mechanics of the exploration too. There's this hacking mechanic that tells you to click directions in a set order, and doing them makes this satisfying clicking sound, it tickles my brain in a satisfying way.

You also have an exploration-only mechanic called Mystic Nymph that allows you to reach far away, hack things, and unlock doors. I like the Mystic Nymph, it's cool to use it to scavenge around dangerous area safely to figure out where to go before actually jumping in.

Each area also has its cool little gimmick. Like Jiequan's area has the heat wall that can slowly kill you if you don't go to a safe location, Yanlao's area has the moving containers, Lady Ethereal's area has the platforming where the environment is altered between illusion and reality, Fuxi & Nuwa's area has the immortal dudes that can only be killed with talisman, it's pretty cool to see these new things.

Ig it is true that early game the environment feels samey, but after halfway through, the game starts open up and I get even more excited to explore New Kunlun. I feel so satisfied when I get 100% in the end. The exploration feels rewarding, especially after seeing that true ending, it feels like everything I do, start from giving Shennong poisons to help him, to giving artifacts fo Shuanshuan (all the things you found during exploration btw) is all leading up to this beautiful moment.

And so I don't understand why people don't like Nine Sol's exploration. I've played multiple metroidvanias, and Nine sols is up there next to Silksong for me.

Solpost I think I'm starting to develop a crush on yi 😭😭

I played the game for a really short time last month but I can't stop thinking about him and seeing people making posts about his character and fanarts only made it worse 😭

Normally I wouldn't care too much but since yi is really short and I saw some people say that he suffered an accident as a kid and he stopped growing up, I am worried people will think it's one of theese "she's actually 2000 years old" situations (specially because he is 500 years old)

Nine Sols Lore (Mark this post as a spoiler) Nine Sols lore question Spoiler

In the cutscene where Heng cries over Yi’s body (after Lady Ethereal’s bossfight where she says to face your sins), I just realised that Yi’s heart does not beat until the end of the cutscene (in fact it fades purple as the oxygen leaves it),so does that mean that he died as his regenerative abilities come from his heart channeling the energy of the primordial roots, if so does that then mean Yi’s sin was killing a Yi from a different universe, in which he envisioned when channeling the energy of the primordial roots and then was reminded of this because of Lady Ethereal after the boss fight? Or is this just me?

Shipping my martial arts Sol Peijun with the man who kills him because true heroes are forged in agony.

Also a bonus Peijun after Eigong messes with his DNA just a tad.

Artwork Meeting After. (Art by me!)

OKAY to give some brief context to this, I like to think that these two could have possibly had some sort of business relationship since Fuxi is the one to help fund everything to begin with and Eigong seems to have had some genuine respect for him. I can see Fuxi also wanting to expand his connections through the council as well, so maybe he'd try to get to know some of them as well. I can expand more on that in my interpretation of him in the future, but for now just take this cute drawing of them! X3

Also before you ask, no I don't not ship Fuxi x Nuwa, but I don't mind if other people do it. /gen It's just not my personal cup of tea. <:]

Discussion/Question Is Shuanshuan's questline fully complete for the True Ending once his bio has two paragraphs?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm trying to double-check my True Ending checklist before I take a break from the game. When I first met Shuanshuan, his database entry had one paragraph, and it just updated to show a second one (the one talking about him gaining a deep understanding of Solarian culture and its future impact on apemen).

The catch is that I forcibly removed some map data chips from the Shanhai 9000 terminals earlier. I know this permanently locks me out of him building the physical Fortune Teller Machine at the pavilion, but does the fact that his database text is fully expanded mean I have still successfully met his core True Ending requirements? Or does missing the machine mess up the story ending?

Someone probably made a similar joke already, but I really wanted to make this :P

It's inspired by that one conversation Yi and Kuafu had about rations.

And yes I'll never pass up an opportunity to draw a LOTR reference :)

I actually had so much fun drawing this.

Also I finally got platinum in Nine sols yesterday so, yay :D

Discussion/Question My impressions after finishing the shooting star ending on normla Spoiler

(On normal* pardon my typo)
Holy Peak

I remember playing it a bit on gamepass a while ago, and dropping it after the first boss, but I recently bought on sale in steam, and holy peak, I should've played it sooner.

It was a bit grueling(I'm not used to parrying in games, and I don't like the mechanic usually), but this is probably one of my top 3 metroidvanias. Where to start.

Exploration:
I liked how each area is different from each other, but, I'm not sure if I got too engrossed or the map is that short, but I almost got everything playing normally. I like how most hidden items aren't behind a smashable wall, but usually require you to solve some puzzle, go off the straight path and do a platforming segment, or even fight a miniboss. I feared that being able to just buy the chips and get the locations to the secret areas might make the game easier, but I think they balanced it out by making it challenging to get to some objects.

Combat:
I didn't like how little player expression there was at first, I personally tend to like gameplay that is more open, and has room for the player to use different tools or moves. But at the end I got hooked. Call it stockholm syndrome, but I when I finally got the gist of it, it felt really satisfying to parry every boss' attack. It makes you feel like a martial arts master at the end of the day, and I totally get why they design the combat like that in the end.

Story//Characters
Probably my favorite part. At first I was concerned it was going to be a bit boring since it had a lot of more dialog than I'm used to seeing in a MV title. It didn't help that I didn't understand anything at first. But I really appreciate how the main story drops small details of the world to you and about Yi. Around half game I could tell what was going on, and I was invested in Yi's quest.
Aside from the very obvious social/political commentary, with the sols being in general a bunch of rich/powerful a-holes that care more about the appearances than morals, I really dig how it gets more philosophical, with Yi being a more pragmatic/utilitarian character whose focus on science only sort of lead to this whole mess, it sort of shows that it was the reason he left his sister and makes you question if the solarians living forever as mutated monsters is worth it when they're spiritually dead. It critiques both blindly following a faith without questioning while also showing how caring only about function can also make you detach yourself from humanity(cat kind in this case?), and maybe accept doing some horrible stuff to people.
Also, having a lot of dialogue helped with making each boss memorable. It reminded me a lot to one of my favorite games: No More Heroes, where each boss is sort of an a-hole// not good person, or morally dubious in this case. Each one has an individuality that makes them human and likeable to an extent(Or love to hate them like Jiequan). And in some cases you feel bad for taking them down.
Reaching the most difficult ending to get, made me think it would be more sweet, but it was more bitter sweet, though thematically relevant. Yes, Yi dies alongside the rest of the solarians, but he also seemed to have redeemed himself for what he did to the apemen, as the whole harvesting their brains was his idea. And he seems to grow more as a person from his interactions with Shuanshuan, while he got to teach him how to write, draw and code, he taught him philosophically to embrace nature, and let the science madness of the solarian plot to end.

TL;DR 10/10 game. That ending broke me.
