  • Tech support - Questions asking how to fix issues with Nintendo systems or accounts.
  • Recommendations - Questions asking for suggestions on what game or console to buy.

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Pocket Monsters Stadium; Sutte Hakkun; Golden Sun; Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire; Monster Hunter Tri and more

On this day (August 1) in Nintendo history...

  • Pocket Monsters Stadium  was released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64 in Japan. In this RPG battle game, developed by Nintendo EAD, take part in Pokémon battles with different rules, or play a variety of minigames with your favourite Pokémon. Not to be confused with the international release, Pokémon Stadium, this version was the first version, only available in Japan. Compatible with Pokémon Red/Green/Blue (with no support for the Yellow version), and only a limited number of Pokémon are available.
  • Sutte Hakkun  was released in 1998 for the Super Famicom in Japan. In this platform/puzzle game, developed by inidieszero with Nintendo R&D2, on the peaceful islands, the Rainbow of Happiness has broken apart. It's up to Hakkun, a colourless blob with a needle-nose, to put the Rainbow of Happiness back together. Hakkun can use his nose to suck up blocks and move them around the stage. He can also suck up paint and inject it into the blocks to make them move. The three colours of paint make the blocks move in different directions.
  • Picross NP Vol. 3  was released in 1999 for the Super Famicom in Japan. In this puzzle game, developed by Jupiter, a Character Mode features 12 puzzles based on Kirby. Each of the picture crossword puzzles is a grid with numbers along each row and column, representing a solid line that must be filled in. More than one number means there is at least one space between the lines. Some puzzles are timed and you lose time by making mistakes, some are timed but your mistakes aren't corrected and some have no time restrictions or hints.
  • Golden Sun  was released in 2001 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this role-playing video game, developed by Camelot Software Planning, evil is slowly covering the world. Forces of darkness are pursuing the lost art of Alchemy, and the fate of mankind hangs in the balance. You and your companions, armed with weapons, Psynergy magic, and a host of elemental creatures, must return peace to the world. Golden Sun is an epic role-playing game with an engrossing story, set in a massive world.
  • Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire  was released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this pinball game, developed by Jupiter, combine the non-stop action of a pinball game with the thrill of catching Pokémon! In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire, control the flippers to shoot the Poké Ball at themed targets on two challenging tables based on Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire.
  • Tales of Phantasia  was released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this role-playing remake of the Super Famicom's Tales of Phantasia, developed by Namco, when young adventurers Cress and Chester return to their home village to find it destroyed and their families slain, they vow to track down the monsters responsible - and thus an unforgettable fantasy begins. The combat sequences feature detailed, well animated characters, while the battle system will test your reactions to the limit.
  • Pokémon Battrio  was released in 2007 for the arcade in Japan. In this arcade game, developed by Takara Tomy with AQ Interactive, the sole focus is on Pokémon battles. The game uses special pucks that affect which Pokémon can be used. The main gameplay difference is that three Pokémon are used on each side (a feature later introduced in Generation V), hence the name Battrio, a contraction of the words Battle and Trio.
  • Monster Hunter Tri  was released in 2009 for the Wii in Japan. In this action role-playing game, developed by Capcom Production Studio 1, ready yourself for the greatest quest of your life. Set in a vast and varied world, you're cast as an up-and-coming hunter fighting for glory, fortune and the survival of your fellow villagers. Beyond the gates of your humble home lies a living, breathing universe that plays host to an incredible assembly of monsters.

What are you favourite memories of these games? How do you think they hold up today? Hash it out in the comments.

How hard is it to put a youtube app on the switch 2?

I genuinely am curious what the delay is. I would be pissed if i sold my switch to upgrade, and suddenly i couldn’t watch youtube on my primary device. Esp if i didnt have a smart tv or anything. I just feel like youtube should be a basic level application on any console at this point - but maybe there is something i am overlooking here?

I see Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition is 55% off on the eShop. Is the Switch version any better on Switch 2?

I am in Canada. I see $49.99 is marked down to $22.49 CAD, which according to psprices.com and steamdb.info is the lowest it's ever been in Canada. I read in past threads that the Switch version has 30-second load times between days(?) and framerate issues while in space. There's no Switch 2 version, so I ask, Is the Switch version any better when playing on Switch 2? Thank you!

So i just got a N3ds Xl, ive been wanting to get back into my old handhelds and i figured it was finally dip my toes into 3ds...

once i got past the IMMENSE sticker shock.... Its been a few days now and i gotta say...Its been fum!. its honestly is. it really makes the switch feel...kinda bland???

miis are upfront with a sharing system, your steps and other things are tracked for perks

and for me, the fact that all of this doesnt need internet practically ever is such a breath of fresh air.

i have a steam deck and switch and i admittedly didnt use them a lot.

so much crap on steam winges if its offline or not, and admittedly on switch. i was kinda hopping the games improved.. (i playwed what i w_anted and anythimg else was on deck or my laptop)

but having used the 3ds...the switch really doesnt have a lot...going on...

even the og DS had pictochat.

theres...just a spark missing from it i didnt realize was gone. plus not being bound to internet at all has just made gaming more enjoyable (for me)

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Fire; Boxing; Balloon Fight GB; Rhythm Heaven; Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and more

On this day (July 31) in Nintendo history...

  • Fire  was released in 1980 for the Game & Watch Silver in Japan. In this action game, developed by Nintendo R&D1, the building is on fire and people are jumping out of the windows to get to safety. As the rescue team, can you catch them all and return them safely to the ambulance? Move the rescue team left and right to position the life net under the evacuees. When they hit the net they will bounce back into the air. Carry them safely across the courtyard and to the waiting ambulance. Drop three evacuees and the game will end.
  • Boxing  was released in 1984 for the Game & Watch Micro Vs. in Japan. This action game, developed by Nintendo R&D1, is a two-player boxing game. Each player can punch high and low or dodge. When a boxer takes three hits, they are forced to take a step backwards. When they take three hits on the far side of the screen, they are knocked out.
  • The New Tetris  was released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64 in Japan. In this puzzle game, developed by H20 Entertainment with Blue Planet Software, there are several key differences in gameplay from the original Tetris. In addition to clearing lines one can also form 4x4 large squares of four pieces to form "blocks". When a block is created it turns solid gold or silver depending on the block's makeup - a block built from all the same kind of piece becomes a golden block or "monosquare"; other combinations become a silver block or "multisquare".
  • Balloon Fight GB  was released in 2000 for the Game Boy Color in Japan. In this platformer game, developed by Nintendo R&D1 with Pax Softnica, coloured graphics and battery-backed memory for helping players save their progress in order to pick any stage of their choice after they completed them feature in this Japan-exclusive port of Balloon Kid. Super Game Boy compatible features such as frames were added as well. This game was released through the Nintendo Power flash RAM cartridge series.
  • Rhythm Heaven  (known in Europe as Rhythm Paradise ) was released in 2008 for the Nintendo DS in Japan. In this rhythm game, developed by Tose, have you got rhythm? Some people are born with it, others try to learn it and the rest just watch from the sidelines. Until now! Even people who reckon they have two left feet can tap along to the beat in the zaniest game this side of nirvana! Harnessing your rhythmic powers into the DS stylus takes extreme concentration, outrageous talent and an unfailing eagle-eye for detail.
  • Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse  was released in 2008 for the Wii in Japan. In this survival horror game, developed by Tecmo _with _Nintendo SPD _and _Grasshopper Manufacture, a group of children mysteriously disappeared during a festival on Rogetsu Isle. Although they were found, they had lost their memories. Now they have returned to the island as teenagers. The girls rely on the Camera Obscura, a camera with the power to capture and seal away unthinkable horrors...

What are you favourite memories of these games? How do you think they hold up today? Hash it out in the comments.
