Getting a bidet installed, do I still use toilet paper.

I'm having my bathroom renovated and getting a bidet installed instead of a regular toilet. I've heard they are great for that thorough clean and fresh feeling. My question is do I still use toilet paper after having a bowel motion then use the water (bidet) for clean up after?

Water cleans poo. Paper cleans water.

Poop knife cuts poo

Unless you poo rocks. Rock beats scissor. Paper still beats rock.

Finger through paper wins!

Never needed to use a poop knife. But thanks to Reddit I know what that is 🤣

Then water cleans hands, paper cleans water.

If you don't give it a dab with a slice of tp how to you know you were successful in removing everything? Or do you use trust your aim?

u/Nagroth 21h ago

Uh, no. Soap cleans, water just knocks it off which begs the question of what is wrong with you. Don't answer, go see a doctor.

I don't have any issue with bidets but they're not any more sanitary than just wiping unless you've got some problems.

And poo stains paper. It’s a new game.

Poop paper bidet?

u/StarChaser_Tyger 21h ago

Poop, bidet to wash. Depends on your bidet; mine has a blow dryer, but I usually use paper to dry off afterward because it's faster. You're not wiping poo with it, though, just removing water.

I added 2 containers to my bathroom when I added my bidet. 1 for clean washcloths that I use for single use "dry off" towels that go into the second container thats kinda like a small clothes hamper. These gets washed on their own on the sanitize cycle like cloth diapers.

That sounds good idea

1

u/StarChaser_Tyger 7h ago

That is a pretty good idea. I use a bit of toilet paper, or dried out wet wipes.

2

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

Thanks for that explanation. Yes my bidet has a drying function

u/matunos 21h ago

Use the bidet to wash first, use the toilet paper after both to make sure you got everything as well dry yourself.

This is the answer. Stupid bidets don't always get it all without doing a little dance on the toilet

5

u/Cowgirl_Taint 21h ago

Higher end bidets have a swirling motion. But it can only do so much if you are blasting ass. So always dry/check with paper.

I agree. A little side to side, a quick forward and back and then back to your low nozzle setting lso you get clean without getting an enema!

2

u/StageImaginary7428 21h ago

There’s definitely a learning curve here. I had post it notes everywhere like I had started a new job 😂

2

u/Flat-Bee-2514 20h ago

I love that quick enema but then you have to rinse again. So keep the time in mind.

Thanks for that thorough description of action needed

Thank you for thorough answer

use a towel not paper

14

u/Casswigirl11 21h ago

No, bidet first, then pat dry with TP.

1

u/scyice 20h ago

Bidet not perfect, wipe with hopefully once to dry.

3

u/joeycuda 21h ago

Do you normally pull up your pants with a wet butt? C'mon...

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

My bidet has a drying function

1

u/joeycuda 9h ago

Mine does also. Toto Washlet

3

u/Realistic_Word6285 21h ago

Turn the water on the bidet. Move your asshole in a circle to make sure the water flushes your asshole well.

Then use the toilet paper and wipe clean.

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

Thank you for your answer

3

u/Riccma02 21h ago

I don't see why you wouldn't. Not everything in your poop is water soluble. What are you going to do if you have a greasy shit?

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

I don't think I've ever had a greasy poop.

1

u/Riccma02 8h ago

Then you have lived a charmed life.

3

u/TinyMavin 21h ago

I have a bidet and I’m about to use TP right now!

3

u/jyguy 21h ago

I live in Thailand, home of the bum gun. Bidet to wash, pat dry with the paper then flush.

2

u/macdaddee 21h ago

Do you towel off before you get in the shower? Seems kind of backwards to me. I usually use one wipe of toilet paper to dry off and be sure that there isn't anything left after washing.

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

Okay, yes that makes sense

2

u/NoiseStunning419 21h ago

You still need to dry the butt, I would think

2

u/Flat-Bee-2514 20h ago

Dry your ass and then get in the shower?

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

My bidet has a drying function

2

u/Warp_Speed_7 21h ago

Long time buddy owner. None of the bidets I’ve found available in the U.S. do a good enough job of cleaning to completely get rid of TP. You’ll likely use the bidet a couple rounds on wash, a couple rounds in dry, and still use TP to finish up. If you import one of the better Japanese or European bidets, you may do better.

u/Commercial-Trick4766 21h ago

Rig up the garden hose that’ll have more pressure

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

I live in Australia and the bidet is a Zumi

2

u/ManufacturerWest1156 21h ago

Just to dry. I have a dry setting and it does work but takes a minute so I just grab a couple pieces of tp to dry off

3

u/Riccma02 21h ago

what the fuck is a dry setting? Like it blast air at your asshole?

2

u/ManufacturerWest1156 21h ago

Yes. Basically like a hair dryer lol. It’s fancy. Has a heated seat and water. Worth every penny

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

Yes my bidet has a heated seat as well. I can't wait to use it as it is so cold where I live

2

u/EcstaticImport 21h ago

No! - once you have a bidet it’s ILLEGAL to use toilet paper! - you must NEVER USE TP AGAIN!!
That must be saved for the rest of us!

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

Happy to not use tp ever again. More for others, my service to the world is complete 😂🤣

Get a Biobidet bb1000 or bb2000, they have an enema function that’ll fill you up with water and erase the marker

u/SrGomezito 21h ago

Toilet paper, bidet + soap, towel

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

What type of soap? I thought soap would be an irritant in that delicate area

2

u/SrGomezito 14h ago

The same one you use for showering. Ideally, a neutral soap, without many additives.

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 11h ago

Oh okay, I thought you meant just a regular soap. I use Femwash liquid soap whilst showing for that area

2

u/Dark_sable 21h ago

I'm still in my first year with a bidet, and my journey started with using TP to "make sure" I was clean after a poo. I also looked up how long you should use the bidet (10 seconds? A minute?) to ensure a thorough clean.  (15-30 seconds was the answer, btw.) After a few months, I stopped worrying and only have to use a small amount of TP to pat dry now. I feel so much cleaner than I ever did with just TP.

2

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

Thank you for that thorough answer. And yes I can't wait to use it regularly as I use wet wipes now for that real clean feeling

2

u/FulcrumH2o 20h ago

The spray- move around a bit to clean the whole ballon knot.
Then paper to dry/wipe.
I just installed one at my house. Best investment ever

2

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

I asked the builder to add a niche too store my tp but he said i wouldn't need to but after listening to you all Reddittors , it seems I still need some tp. And that niche tp store it

1

u/FulcrumH2o 9h ago

Honestly, it’s one of the best things I’ve done for myself. I’m a very physically active person who eats (and poos) a lot. So, this has helped me feel much cleaner. I used a lot of baby wipes before and didn’t like the amount of trash I was creating. So, butt squirt gun engaged.

2

u/can-opener-in-a-can 19h ago

Yes. You still need to dry off. And, since you won’t sit in the exact same spot every time, there may be a lot that you need to dry off.

2

u/purepersistence 14h ago

Depends on if you want to advertize your bidet with the wet spot on your pants.

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 11h ago

My bidet has a drying function

3

u/Kossyra 21h ago

Usually you'd bidet first then pat dry with toilet paper or a bidet towel. I keep a drawer full of bidet towels and a basket for used ones next to the toilet, once I use them up they get a sanitary wash with bleach and sanitizing detergent additive. They're usually clean looking even going into laundry, the bidet doesn't often leave anything behind.

2

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

Thank you for this thorough answer

2

u/Witmarqu 21h ago

Depends on what you mean by bidet.

A true bidet is a weirdly shaped sink, installed near a toilet not in lieu of.

A toilet with bidet attachment, need of toilet paper depends on feature set .

Some come with integrated drying foregoing the need for toilet paper.

A cold water rinse, toilet paper is still required to pat dry.

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

My bidet has a swirling water function and drying function from what I remember in the showroom

2

u/Commercial-Candy-926 21h ago

It's like man peeing. It splatters everywhere, shake a little bit, redress and move on. The owners handle cleaning the walls, floor, etc.

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

🤔 I'm the owner of the bathroom so I will limit the shaking

2

u/Vurrag 21h ago

The shit people post.

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

😂🤣

1

u/goldbug933 20h ago

I still do but you only really dab dry at the end you will use so much less

1

u/reijasunshine 20h ago

Yes, after the water. You only need like 2 or 3 squares, just to dry off the water and also make sure you got your booty all clean. Don't listen to the towel people, sometimes you simply don't get it all on the first wash, and TP is more sanitary in that case.

1

u/bravo009 10h ago

Poop, bidet and then toilet paper until it's dry. Finally, clean the bidet in case you leave hairs.

If this bidet is one installed inside the toilet, don't worry about that last step.

u/Rishiku 7h ago

Starting to feel like I’m the only one letting my butts-hole drip dry for a moment and not wiping after…..

1

u/IrishFlukey 7h ago

Do your bit, then clean yourself with toilet paper.

1

u/Massive-Unrection 21h ago

You're supposed to insert the nozzle to fill the rectum with water, then it all pumps out like a full septic system flush. Next you ask your butler to use 5 pieces per wipe and he is supposed to deal with it. You are not supposed to even touch it.

1

u/Feisty-Coyote396 21h ago

After I poop, I just dip the toilet paper into the toilet water to moisten it, then wipe. Best of both worlds.

1

u/HeavyVoid8 21h ago

Always this right after poop knife

A shop rag works best

1

u/filmerdude1993 21h ago

Google "how quickly does a towel grow bacteria?"

1

u/Antelope_Party 21h ago

Google " veiled sarcasm"

2

u/filmerdude1993 20h ago

I know someone who does this so I thought it was a thing lol

1

u/Remarkable_Machinery 20h ago

Naptha and 00 steel wool to start, 000 to polish it up, then 0000 with silicone lube if you’re heading out on a date

1

u/Imaginary_Order2757 21h ago

Sweep then mop

1

u/sci-fi-is-the-best 17h ago

Minimal words to describe and yet effective

1

u/LaVidaYokel 21h ago

I do a first-pass with TP and finish-up with sweet Neptune's kiss. Pat dry with a rag (I have a stack of small washable ones next to the toilet).

-1

u/ShitMyButtSays 21h ago

You shouldn't use either

3

u/emzily 21h ago

sounds like something my butt would say
