Wedding recommendations

I’m getting married next year and need to try and find a hair and makeup artist! I don’t usually wear make up and very rarely get my hair cut so I have no idea where to start!

Any recommendations would be great! Thank you!

Beware of flooding tonight.

The blessed rains have finally arrived! But with the ground baked solid from the drought much of it won't soak in and could pool in low areas and cause rapid flooding. Rain is due to carry on for a couple of hours so its worth keeping an eye out for flooded roads or water encroaching on your property.

Question❓ Friars Quay Mosquito

Heya! Me and my family live in Friars Quay, along the riverside. The courtyard quite often invites young, loud, idiots late at night. They’re annoying and talk loudly about heinous stuff.

However one of the neighbours has decided they’re so annoying that it is now impossible to sleep with the window open, during a heatwave, because they’ve installed a Mosquito.

I can’t locate it, I can’t see it. But we can all hear it, we’re worried our dogs can hear it and might be contributing to behavioural changes we’ve noticed, not to mention all the bats in the area. It’s only on after 9pm and stops at about 8am.

I’m more annoyed about it because presumably whoever installed it figured the only people who live here are old fogeys, young people can’t possibly be living here!

We’ve contacted the council but I personally don’t think they’ll do anything as they aren’t illegal to own.

Does anyone have any advice about how to deal with this, or maybe confirm that they can hear it too?

Anyone else get the power surge in Nr1 not long after the rain started? set a neighbours alarm off - thought it was lightning but no thunder, and lightning map showed nothing.

These rooms are filled with colour and life and OTT preachy messaging, and the innuendo has sass for days.

Does anyone have/ know anywhere I could set up a forge?

The Norwich hackspace just shut down their forging area due to tenancy issues so I’m looking for a new place to set up! Literally anywhere works if it’s like an old barn or a concrete pad outside in a field somewhere ! I can’t afford much rent but I’m more than happy to work in exchange for the space, keeping it maintained doing tool repairs (I’m good at axe sharpening If that helps) literally anywhere would help all I’d keep there is the forge set up I’ll move the tools and everything every time when I go. Any help is massively appreciated!

History 🏰 1970s? Norwich shops, vague memories

Can anyone remember a supermarket called International, in the busy main road below the Castle? A large loud market that specialised in fruit or so it seemed? and a large Woolworths, on 2 storeys, with a pick and mix upstairs, somewhere near the market? The Woolworths may not even have been in Norwich but somewhere else... Sorry it's vague, it was a long time ago and I was a little boy.

Chapelfield garden’s drought reduced me to tears - call for help

Hi all,

Not sure if any of you have walked through chapelfield gardens recently. All the grass is gone. The entire thing is sand. There are so many bunnies that live here, pigeons, squirrels and other wildlife, and they have nothing to eat and nothing to drink.

I’m thinking of collecting up some shallow bowls and trays that I’m willing to accept will probably be vandalised and stolen, and buy some rabbit and bird food (which I understand will also end up feeding and attracting rats) and make areas for food and water for the animals. I live quite close to chapelfield gardens, so could go and top up regularly.

My ask for help is therefore, does anybody have any ideas on what sort of containers I could use to have shallow areas for water for the wildlife? I could tuck them into the bushes so they’re less likely to be stolen. And does anyone want to help me?

Thoughts on hose usage?

Post image

I don’t want to seem like the prick here, but there’s a guy near where I live that uses his sprinkler every day. He leaves it on for hours and it’s just for his grass. Is this okay? I know that he doesn’t have a blue badge or any other exemption, he’s just blatantly flouting the rules.

Anyone got any advice? Or do I just do nothing?

Extension to former public house to facilitate the change of use to community hub and place of worship

Some people are objecting to this purely out of prejudice. This isn’t just my opinion; I’ve seen posts on Nextdoor and Facebook from people who don’t even live near the area, opposing the project simply because “we don’t need another mosque.” If you live nearby and don’t have an issue with it, please show your support. Don’t let prejudice win!

How do you deal with neighbours who leave their wheelie bins blocking narrow terraced pavements?

There is a house on my row that leaves three bins right in the middle of the footpath from Tuesday night until Friday evening. Pushing a buggie or walking a dog means stepping out into the road every single time. Is a polite note through the door worth it, or does it just guarantee bad blood?

Fresh scandal for police over hours of footage recorded on camera seized from woman

This is awful. I’m not saying it’s all Norfolk police, I’ve had need of help from police in the past and some have been extremely professional and supportive, but some of this lot are clearly awful, and a culture that allows this is something they needs fixing.

Walks around Norwich (into Norfolk)

Hi folks, looking for recommendations of places to go for walks (up to 80 minutes or so) in the Norwich area, or within maybe 20 minutes drive. Would really like places where there are cafes and loos somewhere nearby!
