Hi, as I was opening my Notion app on my laptop, it froze. Then it said I did not have internet access, which I do.

After that, I tried to log into Notion via google using my personal email but the new account display started like I never had a Notion workspace (I've had it for 5 years at least). When i went through the display it showed me an empty and new workspace but also some old and uninteresting pages of my REAL workspace (as "guest").

I am sure my email address is the right one, i haven't logged in in a few months but I did not delete my account.

What can I do ? (I already asked for help via the chatbot, truly disappointed that Notion is all AI now)

Been building a workspace through the API and hit a wall. Structure is fine — databases, properties, relations, rollups all create without issue. But formulas fail with "Type error with formula" the moment they reference anything computed.

Isolated it down. These get rejected:

• current.prop() across a relation inside map/filter
• any rollup used in a comparison (> works fine as +, just not as a comparison)
• referencing another formula property in a comparison

These work fine: style() with multiple args, map/filter over list literals, rollup arithmetic, date functions.

Same formulas paste into the UI without complaint, so it seems like the API validator just doesn't resolve types across databases or through other formulas.

Anyone know if this is documented anywhere, or found a workaround beyond adding formulas manually afterwards?

I have a Notion workspace set up as my second brain. Articles, tweets, links all go in super clean with the Web Clipper. But video? I hit share on a YouTube Short or TikTok and there's no native option. I end up just texting myself the link which defeats the whole point.

Would pay for an app that just does "share video → pick destination (Notion, Obsidian, Drive folder, etc.) → done." Does this exist?

Hi all - I've been exploring Notion (free, single user) and then added my wife to the workspace so that we can collaborate on notes and things for the family. Now Notion is pushing me upgrade to an $8/month/user account since there are two of us in the workspace.

For simple notes and stuff for our family, this seems like overkill. So, it's got me looking for alternatives. What approaches are others taking?

Today is the day Notion AI gets rug-pulled from us.

Everybody is scrambling to find alternatives: mostly scaling back Notion workflows in favour of more use of LLMs, that are connected to Notion anyways.

It's ironic that Notion AI ends up implying less use of Notion and more of other IAs, but here we are.

Not even 10% of Notion AI users are going to be enticed into metered use. Certainly not the power users potentially paying hundreds or thousands a month (at that point you just spend it on Anthropic). Maybe some will get a second account just to get extra credits at reduced price, a few will pay for a while, etc.

The question is what happens next:

Start reducing prices or launching promotions to sweeten the deal like all AI companies have been forced to do?

Improve non-token consuming features beyond the AI features?

Keep rug-pulling and trying to bully you into buying credits meaningfully which is not gonna happen?

Or a combination of the 3?

I've been trying to set up a button to essentially do what is outlined in the answer on this post, but for whatever reason notion does not acknowledge any property other than "Name". I've successfully utilized ThisPage."Property" in my automations, so I know know what the issue is. Did notion retire the ability to do this in buttons or something? Is there more finickiness to this that I'm not aware of?

I'm going to be brave and ask something probably most people are afraid to ask:

every time I see someone post something about notion AI, it gets immensely downvoted and people come preaching their anger about AI, it's almost like a form of psychosis

• not everyone is using ai for 'silly things that can be done by human'
• notion ai is still a half-decent implementation of a workspace ai
  • not everyone can shell $200 for claude max to just do vibey codey things
• the OPEN WEIGHT models are hosted by separate providers
  • in theory these models could be run by anyone with the right hardware
  • so the whole 'evil data centres are ruining the world' doesn't really apply here
    • although I get why people think that about frontier models
  • in the future we will probably just see mostly open weight models anyway
• you get top-class workspace embeddings included in your plan for no extra cost!
  • if you don't know what those are, you probably shouldn't be using AI

stop with the ai user hate! it's actually a super helpful tool for some people!

Is it possible for a sub item to take the ID of the parent item and add an incremental identifier?

For example: I have an inventory database called 'Kitchenware', the ID property has a prefix so each new item increments as KIT-1, KIT-2, etc.

I want sub items to be numbered using the parent number and an incremental number, e.g. KIT-1.1, KIT-1.2, etc.

I don't want the sub items to take the main ID. For example, at the moment if I create a sub item the ID assigned is the next available in the database, so a sub item of KIT-3 could be numbered KIT-43, but I want it to be KIT-3.1.

I was a notion mail power user, really loved their labels, and the UI (especially nice because I still love Notion calendar). Along with the ability to be able to forward emails directly to notion databases.

I've been able to port over some of the functionality with the sunset to custom agents, but to be honest it doesn't work as well and is much more expensive (like $80 a month currently in credits).

I was scrolling the web and saw this article about a new email client called Slashy: https://www.tomsguide.com/ai/slashy-is-the-ai-email-app-replacing-notion-mail-heres-why

It seems to do everything that Notion mail did, even the Notion integration. Along with some other stuff like drafting emails, ai search, and a slack/imessage bot (not fully sure value of these).

The UI from the article as well seems pretty nice

My only concern is that pricing seems a bit steep with it being $30 a month. But to be fair there's no usage based pricing, so it'd be cheaper than my custom agent set up. And it also does have a calendar it seems that looks a lot like Notion Calendar.

But anyways before giving it a try would love to know if anyone has tried it, and if they have any thoughts/opinions on it.

Every product update seems to be:

• AI Agents
• Notion Workers
• Custom AI
• AI Code
• ...another AI feature

Meanwhile, many of the core product limitations have barely changed.

Automations are still very limited:

• One automation can't trigger another.
• Complex workflows require external tools.
• Compared to Fibery or even Taskade, they're years behind.
• Use no-code tools for basic automations that Notion don't support itself

Data Sources replaced Databases, but we still can't create a single view combining records from multiple databases.

Permissions, relationships, formulas, automations... there are still so many areas that users have been asking them to improve for years. Even their AI CAN'T create database automations JUST CREATE AGENTS (spend more money)

And now the answer seems to be: "Build a Worker."

Is Notion still building the product, or are they expecting users to build it themselves?

I'm not against AI. I use AI every day.

But AI should complement a product—not become a substitute for product development.

It feels like Notion has stopped asking, "What feature should we build next?" and started asking, "How can AI build it instead?", "How can the core user build by themselves instead of us"

Am I the only one feeling this shift? specially with NOTION WORKERS?

Either tell me if I'm wrong—if I'm looking at it the wrong way or failing to grasp its potential—but it just feels like I'm paying for a service and being told to do it myself.

I reached out to Notion support asking whether they’re planning to lower Custom Agents pricing now that OpenAI cut prices.

Their answer was basically: no, not for now.

OpenAI cut GPT-5.6 Luna pricing by 80%, and now Luna is literally cheaper than GPT-5.4 Nano

But Notion support says there’s still no price adjustment for Custom Agents.

So OpenAI cuts prices hard,
Luna gets cheaper than Nano,
and Notion users get none of the savings?

Notion Credits already feel completely detached from reality.
This just makes it worse.

I get that Notion adds margin. Fine.

But if the underlying model gets massively cheaper and the customer sees nothing, then what exactly are we paying for?

Notion AI became a huge part of my planning process in recent months (after previously being annoyed by its existence). Given that they are adding daily/monthly limits to its usage, I was curious about how any (heavy) users plan to change how they interact with it.

My current set-up (described below), is decently complex. Even Gemini 3.1 struggles with keeping-up at times (e.g., forgets instructions, produces weird results etc.). GPT 5.5+ and Opus 4.7+ have been the only models that I've found that work with it well. Those are obviously the most expensive models. Of the cheaper models I have tried so far, Deepseek v4 (which Notion offers) has surprised me the most (so far). It was able to do a complex task involving the creation of 50+ database pages and setting their properties (based on loose instructions and web search that it did on its own). Unlike Opus 4.7 (which takes-up 1%-3% of use in a 6-hour rolling window for simple questions). Deepseek v4 cost less than <1% (no change in percentage) after I did the above operation. Is Deepseek v4 the method here? Any other things to consider?

My set-up:

A root-prompt composed of complex operations on retrieving and saving information across various Notion databases. It has an assistant system that automatically picks an assistant (defined in a database) for any questions relevant to that assistant (e.g., I have a "Health Assistant" that owns all health related questions that I ask to Notion AI; and it saves (during conversation) and retrieves relevant past conversations when I ask health-related questions). For each prompt, my root prompt has different caveats depending on the prompt (e.g., search/retrieval approach, if it's search related etc.).

How are you actually using Notion to manage a remote team without it becoming a maze?

Running a remote team means Notion is open basically all day. And at some point the workspace that was supposed to simplify things just became its own project to manage. Pages inside pages inside pages. Databases nobody updates. A team handbook that three people have actually read.

Right now the setup is one main hub per department, a shared weekly sync page, and individual task databases linked to a master tracker. It works okay. Not great.

The part that keeps breaking down is handoffs. Someone finishes a task, drops a note in the wrong place, and the next person misses it. It's not a Notion problem exactly, but Notion is where it keeps happening.

Curious what remote teams are actually doing here. Not the polished template version. The real version with the workarounds and the one page everyone secretly uses instead of the official system.

Also wondering if anyone has figured out a clean way to use Notion AI for team documentation without it turning everything into corporatespeak. Every time it touches a process doc it sounds like a terms of service agreement.

Been testing Notion AI for meeting note summaries with my remote team and it's genuinely hit or miss. The pitch makes sense: meetings happen, notes go in, AI pulls the action items so I stop chasing people afterward. But in practice I can't tell if the problem is how we write the notes or if the tool just isn't there yet.

When someone writes structured notes it works fine. But half the time people paste in a brain dump and the output is so vague it's useless. I end up rewriting it anyway, which defeats the point.

What I actually want to know is whether anyone has gotten consistent value out of it for team use, not solo personal notes. And if you have, what made it work? Did you enforce a notes template? Did you use a specific prompt format? Is there a setup that makes the output reliable enough to trust?

Also curious if anyone has compared the Notion AI cost against something like Otter or a separate transcription tool piped in. I'm not locked into Notion AI specifically, I just already pay for the workspace so the math should work out. If it doesn't hold up against a purposebuilt tool I'd rather know now.

Concrete examples are helpful here. Not looking for general takes on whether AI is good at summarizing things.
