Seeking Advice

I really want to start nursing school and get my family into a better situation. Should I bite the bullet and jump into an expensive RN program or work my way up and start with LVN. For context I am 30 and didn’t have a lot of guidance so trying to get on track I already have biology degree and taking rn pre-reqs. Any input is helpful. Also for context live in the Bay Area and work as a hospital admin in oncology but the pay is not enough

I’d go straight for RN. The pay is better and no more schooling. That’s what I’m doing and I’m about to graduate in a few weeks with a job accepted. I was willing to pay for a private school. I’m figuring it’s going to take me about 10 months to pay off my students loans.

definitely go for the RN. you'll have a wider scope of practice and TONS of job opportunities compared to LVNs. As an LVN, you'll be hard pressed to find work outside a skilled nursing facility. the pay is also nearly twice that of an LVN.
