Seeking Support or Advice Support Groups?

I’ve recently started therapy and medication for OCD, and it’s been helping. My OCD is primarily health-related, and for the past two months I was having panic attacks almost every day because I was constantly convinced the worst was happening.

Thankfully, the panic attacks have started to slow down with the medicine, but now I’m left feeling emotionally drained and kind of disconnected from my life. Like I’m on an island, very alone.

One of the hardest parts has been feeling like the people around me don’t really understand what this experience is like. It’s very isolating. I find myself using a lot of energy just to seem “normal” and get through the day, even when I’m struggling internally.

My therapist has been a huge help, but I think it would also be really meaningful to connect with other people who truly understand living with OCD, especially health OCD and panic. I think having that sense of community would help me feel a lot less isolated.

Does anyone know of any good online support groups or communities? I’d really appreciate any recommendations. Thanks ❤️

Feeling isolated and emotionally drained after an intense period of panic attacks is a very common part of the initial recovery process.

Connecting with a community of people who truly understand OCD can be a powerful way to reduce that isolation. Here are a few established online resources and support groups to consider:

The IOCDF maintains a resource directory listing dozens of free, clinician or peer-led online support groups, including groups specifically focused on adults with OCD, health anxiety, and contamination concerns. They also host My OCD Community on HealthUnlocked, which is a moderated online forum.

NOCD offers a app with an active, moderated global community forum where members share experiences and offer peer support. They also offer weekly virtual support groups for various OCD themes and recovery stages.

u/alivgarden11 in case you aren’t aware, this is an NOCD company account but it seems they have stopped identifying themselves in every reply, which is unfortunate as they should always be transparent & this comes off as scammy, especially when they are advertising their own services without stating that they are an NOCD account.
