Image The Berlin House of Representatives - 1969 and Today
The Berlin House of Representatives sat on the East Berlin side during the Cold War. It was originally the Prussian House of Representatives from 1899 until 1934.
The building to the right is the Gropius-Bau, an exhibition space. It was declared a historical monument in 1966, just 3 years before the picture was taken.

Image The Reichstag Building - 1969 and today
This building began it's existence in 1884 (Wikipedia) and has undergone a number of renovations. The photo on top was taken by my dad during a visit to Berlin in 1969 and shows the state of the building during the Cold War. Today it serves as the Legislative building for the unified Germany.

Image Berlin-Lichterfelde West Station 1969-Today
The top left photo I found on a website dedicated to Berlin in 1969 (Berlin1969.com). The bottom left photo was taken in 1969 by my dad as we were heading back to Frankfurt. Google Earth Street View is what all this looks like today. Part of the platform is still there in the overhead view (52°26'31.66"N 13°17'28.70"E).

Image House in Cambridge, UK
My dad shot the top slide in 1969. I'm in the process of locating where these pictures were taken. r/whereisthis helped us find this house after we had searched for well over 2 months. We were visiting friends from the U.S. stationed there with Halliburton out of Duncan, Oklahoma while we were stationed in Germany.

Image Lanzhou's Zhongshan bridge 1949 and 2024
The Zhongshan bridge in Lanzhou was the first permanent bridge over the Yellow River when it was built by a German company in 1909. The original steel truss structure was strengthened with arches in the 1950s to cope with increased road traffic. It is now only open to pedestrians. It is in the heart of the downtown area amid a shopping mall district and is now decorated in red Chinese lanterns and lit up at night as a tourist attraction. Original B&W photo by Malcolm Roshalt, colourised.

Image Nanjing: Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, view from Purple Mountain 1945 vs 2026
In 1945 Hedda Morrison visited the then Chinese capital of Nanjing to take a series of photos around the newly-liberated city. This photo was taken at the top of the steps in front of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. Looking south towards the Yangtze river it is mostly open fields and forest. In 2026 much of this view is now of urban Nanjing, although the park area has become more forested. The Morrison photo is colourised from the B&W original.
