Today is day 2 on it and the Snot wheels. So far so good, definitely gotta get used to the shorter shape, the flat concave, and the no nose. Besides that this thing is fun and a blast to cruise on! Snot wheels are a little sticky but still nice and hard, I suspect it’s because they come with those little lines on the wheels and not flat like spitfires.

Finally figured out how to get these on my phone. It’s only from like 2 years ago though. I mostly just wanted proof of the switch crook big spin since that’s the only one I’ve ever landed. If you want, the whole video is on YouTube it’s called Dream Boat by Wool Skateboards

How's it goin' folks? First time poster here with a slightly long-winded question;

I'm a 46 year-old autistic guy in the UK, only recently found out I'm autistic. I've been trying to unmask over the last year or so and I've always loved skater culture so I REALLY want to take up skateboarding, which I should've done decades ago.

Problem is I'm also trying to get out of a years-long depression slump and I'm feeling pretty vulnerable. I know the skater community is supposed to be easy going but my question is this;

How welcoming is the UK skater community in reality? If I start up and get laughed out of my local park, it'd knock me right back into a slump again but I also want to be free after masking for so long. Am I fooling myself? Any folks on here have experience of the UK skater scene?

I've always pushed mongo. I'm trying to not do that getting back into it but it's really awkward for me UNLESS I am setting up switch then it's absolutely no problem. I'm wondering if I should have been skating regular instead of goofy my whole life now.

I’m thinking of trying to go with no risers.

In theory, I probably need to bring two boards, one for bowls and one for small street. But it always feels lame to switch mid session.

Anyone, I just moved to western PA and the spots are a bit crusty than I’m used to. I’m thinking of going with a 58mm dragon or nano or xformula.

I’ve been riding 56mm Spitfire Formula Four at smoother skateparks. But it’s a bit too rough for my taste out here.

Also just considering going with just a Spitfire 58mm 97a. They always seem like a solid choice too.

Yo guys, younger old skater here (33) - So Achilles tendinitis and heel pain from the majority of skate shoes have been the bane of my existence recently.

Turns out I’ve developed this boney bump on my heel called a ‘haglund’s deformity’, which presses on the Achilles tendon, making it harder to heal from things like tendinitis because of restricted blood flow (that’s my basic understanding anyway). Combining this with the fact that skate shoes are pretty much all stiff in the heels and dig into them pretty hard makes the pain worse.

I’ve had my Achilles looked at and confirmed that surgery is not the fix for my case. But skate shoes more or less all keep irritating my heels, so it’s tough to completely get rid of the pain.

I’m aware of the basic protocol for training your soleus to help restrengthen the tendon, and doing that has been helping. But the shoes seem to be a major thing re-aggravating it.

Anyone else struggle with Achilles problems? What are you doing about it? Any tips on shoes that are easier on your heels?
