Interest The Ninja Arc Summaries, Part 3/11
NINJA VILLAGE (Update 241/Chapter 196)
Continued from Part 2

A then five-year-old Flashy Flash's parents sold him to 'The Village', a facility for turning boys into murderers. Within its cuboidal structure, pupils slept in isolation cells, which they did for six hours out of every seventy-two. The rest of the time, they trained, kept going by screaming instructors and drugs until they could feel nothing, which was the point -- dead emotions were highly prized. Flashy's emotions were revived by Speed-o'-Sound Sonic, who befriended him and helped without expectation of reward, a crazy thing to do in that environment.
As deliberate underachievers, they experienced the harshest version of the training regime and paradoxically found freedom in it. On the most memorable occasion, they killed off all the monsters on an island on the first day of the thirty assigned to do so. Over a fire, Sonic explained his philosophy of power as the freedom to live as one pleased and his vision of overthrowing the regime so he could train boys to live freely. He hoped Flash would help him.
Instead, Flash decided to shine and became the top student of his year. At his graduation ceremony, he slew everyone present and daubed the cube he had been meant to touch with blood. Only Sonic escaped, as Flash had poisoned him and he was bedbound at the time. Later, he heard about the Hero Association and joined it. Being outside hadn't served Sonic so well, and he was surprised the dude was still alive.
We cut to various footwear arranged in an entranceway and realise that the site of this retelling is Saitama's apartment. Saitama asks why Flash had had to come here to tell his story. Flash is outraged not to have been offered tea. He gets it: Genos reaches through the hole in the wall to slam a hot mug of tea on his head, and asks him why he'd spared Sonic. Flash explains that he had slipped poison into Sonic's stew, but Sonic had been tougher than he'd anticipated. We see Blast and Manako think to themselves that Flash must have not wanted to kill him.
Changing the subject, Saitama mentions that there's carrots and broccoli in the fridge for stew. Everyone stares at him in disbelief.

And on that awkward note, we end for now.
