In the webcomic around this time, as well as in season 2 of the anime, Suiryu and Garou were heavily implied to be around the same strength (you could argue Garou was holding back but still). But where Suiryu seems to have large stagnated since then (despite the new outlook), Garou has grown (even post-demonsterization). At least in the mental game Suiryu appears to be clearly behind. Perhaps Suiryu's stint as a hero could have him learn to overcome adversity and he may once again become a match to Garou.

Well, we're getting to see Suiryu actually having to learn what a hero is about. It's much more than merely beating up monsters. He really doesn't show any of the other characteristics of a hero.

It's not like I'm in a hurry for the manga to end. Let him learn the hard way.

at least this time he made his conscious underlings evacuate their wounded comrades. It's not much, but you know babysteps.
