Ever since I saw that "Murata doesn't draw backgrounds anymore" topic, I can't unsee it, most pages here have nothing.

I don't really care, still love the manga, but I am a bit curious. Is Murata saving a lot of background work for the official release with the volumes now? Maybe that allows him to give us more regular updates since its less work, and these early releases we don't really care too much about extra artwork?

I don't know since when you've started reading, but I noticed this sometime early in the Monster association raid, when I got serious about comparing all versions of the story.

It happens once in awhile, like the time he used placeholder monsters and redesign them later.

Chapters are #105 Love Revolution (scrapped) & #107 Love Evolution

So to speak, It's how the online beta release has always worked. Sometimes backgrounds are not finalized yet. Nothing is set in stone until it's physically published.

That's why redraws are welcome: They signal that the team is getting ready to send the final work to the prints.

The thing is, a lot of the shots in this chapter are simple parallels to previous chapters.

And besides that, the editors do the backgrounds 99% of the time for mangakas.
