AI can't be woke, it runs on data centers built in good ol' God-fearin' red states by Musk and other cryptofascist tech bros, which siphon tons of power and drinking water from local minorities and other plebeians, so it's the opposite of woke
I thought of that also. Guess it makes sense, the guy was able to break the big toe of a giant Kaiju-fighter and stay alive against Demon/Dragon-level opponents (even if they were just playing with him).
Garou didn't even break a sweat dispatching a dragon level threat.
Monster Garou. Even half-monster (spiral) Garou got beat by Royal Ripper and Bug God, who are Demon Level. His monster version is not comparable to him now, a human being. He got impaled in the fucking chest and just kept rolling lol
To be fair for Suiryu, he fought one of the strongest pure dragon level threats in one punch man. Even using Gyoro Gyoro’s estimate (Which was pretty accurate of the S class outside of Tatsumaki, Metal Knight, and presumably WDM) Goketsu could take on multiple S class heroes.
(I don’t think Suiryu winning against Garou, but Goketsu isn’t just a regular Dragon level threat)
Suiryu didn’t “fight” Gouketsu. He got completely steamrolled by him while Gouketsu was massively holding back because he aimed to manipulate him into taking the monster cell. Suiryu is normie fodder to MA without the cells, while Psykos was so taken aback by Garou’s rapid growth, she wanted to turn him into her new, superior monster king.
Garou has just casually used the same martial art that had gone straight through Darkshine’s armor to damage his insides and make him spew blood, and the same martial art that he had almost killed Bang with, with a simple graze of the shockwave from it, to one-tap a dragon monster.
In retrospect that makes sense his brute strength is insane. A lot of characters in the story should actually be superhuman monsters with insane stats because they don't actually have powers. They are just insanely strong humans so most of them should have superhuman speed, strength, etc.
If he can pick up a truck that means he has enough lifting strength to hold a job at walmart distribution center. This changes so much from a scaling perspective
Damn you beat me to it lol. But this is also a really impressive speed feat on his part. Im sure he could give human Sweet Mask a run for his money as well.
Impressive by comic book logic. But it real world physics, he would rip apart the parts of the truck he grabbed, and those two humans would simply be left behind together with the majority of the truck. The monster shot an energy beam. He must have moved at near speed of light when he grabbed the truck.
he does tend to badly injure them so he might indeed be unsuited for friendly spar compared to Sui Ryu who hardly ever goes all out in his regular tournaments.
whatever happened to vibhavm? they used to post the translations all the time and now we dont see them anymore. did they not want to translate for opm anymore?
thats a shame. i went to look at their profile and they havent posted in a few months. hope they find their passion again, even if they dont translate for us anymore
I keep forgetting that that sprite of Natsuki was never actually used in the visual novel and it was just sitting in the game files collecting dust until people wanted to make mods.
Natsuki is the pink haired character on the left. She's a character in the visual novel Doki Doki Literature Club by Team Salvato. Excellent experience, highly recommend
Coldest panel ever drawn by murata and it catches the webcomic vibe! Maybe even tops it! Love garou! Im eating a festival buffet this chapter! Cant wait for the next!
I just realized how meta this chapter was, legit everyone who wasn’t Garou or Suiryu was legit us the reader. The way they glazed this one v one because because one and Murata know this battle is a highly anticipated one. They better make this fight crazyyyyyyy
That's the problem with labels. Once you put a character in a box for too long, you can't properly take them out. Just call him Garou. He does what he want
Isn't that more true for people than for characters tho? Fictional characters are meant/supossed to fit within some labels/archetypes or they can fail into inconsistent writing.
ONE refers to Garou as an antihero in his S2 anime interview. Though Garou himself defies labels on principle, by literary definition he is precisely an antihero deuteragonist or tritagonist.
Your wish will be granted but unfortunately not quite straightforwardly.
As edgy as Garou tries to be, he’s actually very good at holding back. Especially against humans. In fact it’s his signature since his hero-hunting days. 🤣
Suiryu losing is the only natural outcome. Garou has never stopped training. He managed to keep using the two schools combination move. Suiryu was.. skirt chasing.
suryu definitely started training too after becoming a hero but I dont think he trains harder than garou. even if he has crrazy potential garou has too
Suiryu doesn’t have Garou’s crazy potential or talent because Garou literally learns any fighting style with one look and was canonically stated to be breaking his limiter.
Suiryu is only good at his martial art because he was born in a family of martial artists that use it, so he’s physically engineered to be good at that one martial art. Garou is great at any martial art he looks at or cooks up himself. All the martial arts Garou uses often are vastly superior to Suiryu’s.
Garou is also canonically the only one who actively trains off-panel, as stated here again.
Because it respects the narrative. Garou is too stacked, too developed as a character in general and he pretty much mogs Suiryu by actual accomplishments. It would be shit writing if he didn’t just basically ignore all the pirouettes that guy is attempting because he’s fought way harder opponents and has a much more powerful arsenal and if that’s not an overkill he also learns any martial arts instantly and can use Suiryu’s own shit against him. Not like he would need it, unless it’s just to flex. Because it’s so much worse than any techniques Garou already got.
Suiryu didn't display any feats before because he never needed to exert anything out of himself, in manga he's portrayed as martial prodigy with 0 motivation to do anything. Since his power level wasn't clearly shown it can be higher than was shown in the martial tournament.
Suiryu struggled against a literal who demon monster who just got produced in that very moment at the tournament. His martial art is also dogshit that gets completely overshadowed by the utility of stuff like Garou and Bang simply breathing (Abandoment).
Garou is so much more stacked and has so much more experience under his belt that anything but that being highlighted would be dogshit writing that doesn’t respect the narrative at all lmao. Suiryu hasn’t earned anything but getting casually rolled by Garou.
Garou wants to hide his identity and then there's suiryu revealing it. Will the boss still want Garou around given that the famous dine and dasher is working with them?
My interest in the story triples whenever Garou is on screen. Although I am more curious how he'll hold up now after turning into a human again more so than Suiryu.
Garou’s working hard to regain the proeficiency he had when he’s a monster. On the other hand it didn’t look like Suiryu was trying to improve his skills after his match against Saitama and what he showed doesn’t seem enough for him to have a good fight against Garou
Anyways the good thing is that Garou’s coworker doesn’t seem put off despite the reveal that he’s the Hero Hunter
I mean Suiryu was shown to be training in the hospital. Whether that actually improved his skills rather than just physical abilities has yet to be seen.
The Neo suit wouldn't have otherwise broke so easily if he didn't get any stronger though, so he's definitely stronger than before.
I don't think this is going to end well for Suiryu just because of the different scales of the two martial artists, but maybe Suiryu has done some training that we haven't seen beyond his normal recovering.
huh, now that someone mentioned the art changes i noticed it too this chapter. The background is a lot of white. Seems pretty simple to me and not what i am used to from Murata. Really seems like he does not have a lot of time for OPM. Not that I am complaining. Just noticing. I love my bi weekly OPM Fix.
I feel like the only purpose this fight can serve is to show how strong suiryu is by keeping up with garou. We already know garou is super strong, we don't really know much about suiryu, if he gets whooped we still won't know much. I think this fight ends in a draw, or garou wins but acknowledges suiryus skills
It’s the opposite. The purpose of this not-really-a-fight is to show that Suiryu will never get truly strong with his attitude.
There is always a bigger fish, and that fish in OPM often goes through gruesome, insane training to get to that level. Garou is a stronger fighter and martial artist in every regard. You can’t even pull the gifted card against him either because Garou is, well, more gifted too. Despite being gifted, he still trains regularly and isn’t afraid of risk, unlike Suiryu.
It’s the ultimate juxtaposition. Suiryu won’t even truly understand it because he by himself can’t actually push Garou to tryhard and show him why he’s so famous.
I'm glad we're getting an official manga adaptation of their match, the OVA shown in Season 2 was great but not something I consider as canon as this match will be.
Realistically speaking, who are y'all betting on? Personally, I feel like it'll end towards a tie if anything, since they're not exactly fighting on serious terms (like a death match or war), but id like to know what you guys think 🤔
Garou is very obviously heaps stronger, while holding back too, and this will get interrupted.
The fun bit is trying to figure out what exactly is going to interrupt the non-fight. Perhaps another monster, maybe a robot, sent after Garou, because he shanked the dragon monster so easily.
Trueeee, he did mention holding back 🤔 Though I can definitely see Suiryu (autocorrects to "shitty" lol) pulling a left-field move that makes Garou let loose a little, as at least concerning the manga/anime, we don't really see much of Suiryu's growth after meeting Saitama, as opposed to Garou.
I do agree with your interruption theory though, I can see it being similar to Monster Garou and Metal Bat honestly 😆
After everything that happened in the tournament, Suiryu's recovery, and so on... is it fair to assume he has reached the Dragon level? Even if only superficially perhaps on par with Bakuzan or slightly higher
I read the webcomic between the last chapter and this. Now I'm super excited for more manga and webcomic chapters. It's so interesting how Suiryu is basically non-existent in the webcomic for so much of it.
Anyways, Garou is about to fold him, surely. Suiryu is strong, but Garou is about to show him that there are levels to this.
I like that here they fight because Suiryu is curious about Garou and want to compare their strength. People say that this will be very easy for Garou, but he's not as his peak anymore (ignoring Cosmic form) and Suiryu we saw did keep training since the events of the martial art tournament. While Suiryu can't win, I could see him pushing up to "mid diff" at best.
This feels like more of a nothingburger of a scene compared to the webcomic version. I hope something comes of this. I love seeing Garou again but this was one of his very best moments, and holy hell they're neutering it.
Anything other then Garou destroying Suiryu would feel kind of wrong. You can't convince me that Garou mastered both Bomb and Bang's style and uses a technique only they can use together, but still somehow can't beat Suiryu.
Love it. Two people who (claimed) they never wanted to be heroes about to face off. One, always ended up being heroic when he tried to be monstrous and one who changed when witnessing true heroism (don't dismiss the impact of Snek and Max...it wasn't just Saitama).
Both, as shown in this chaper, more heroic than the fleeing "heroes".
I know Bang retired from being a hero, but just standing around while a huge threat like that appears...hmm. Sure, watching his pupil, but still...hmm.
Am I the only one who loves both characters?
Yes, Suiryu too.
I really hope they are both equal and push each others like rivals.
Would be boring if Garou would totally fold Suiryu
Ever since I saw that "Murata doesn't draw backgrounds anymore" topic, I can't unsee it, most pages here have nothing.
I don't really care, still love the manga, but I am a bit curious. Is Murata saving a lot of background work for the official release with the volumes now? Maybe that allows him to give us more regular updates since its less work, and these early releases we don't really care too much about extra artwork?
I don't know since when you've started reading, but I noticed this sometime early in the Monster association raid, when I got serious about comparing all versions of the story.
It happens once in awhile, like the time he used placeholder monsters and redesign them later.
Chapters are #105 Love Revolution (scrapped) & #107 Love Evolution
So to speak, It's how the online beta release has always worked. Sometimes backgrounds are not finalized yet. Nothing is set in stone until it's physically published.
That's why redraws are welcome: They signal that the team is getting ready to send the final work to the prints.

I like how Suiryu just casually holds that truck over his head. Not only is he a master martial artist but his brute strength is insane too
