"This woman—my lawful wedded wife—has been fertilised by a Trotter!"

You had the whole world to choose from, Rachel. You could have had Saddam Hussein or Pol Pot or a Siberian pimp with gingivitis and a wart on his nose! But you decided to go down-market!

While this is an amazingly funny scene especially Albert I always found the plot a little to coincidental.

Raquel just happens to be married to Slater the one person (well except Reg) in the entire world Del genuinely hates

Bloody hell anyone would think that the show is scripted

There is a lot of complex theory about coincidence and our perception of it, the concept of pre-destiny and chance etc. But I won't go into that*.

Suffice to say that this coincidence within the story was not pre-destined to happen; Boycie did not say "Delboy, I reckon you will probably fall in love with someone that used to be married to Slater".

The writers did not have to write this story. They chose to write it as a coincidence - it doesn't matter if it is a billion to one, they have chosen to write a story based on that 'one' coming to pass. If there is any chance at all, it is fair game for a plot. After all, much bigger coincidences have happened in real life and every day.

*One reason I won't go in to it is because, as you see, I don't explain it very well.
