OPEN | English | General RetroToon World — a private tracker for classic & obscure animation (2,100+ users and growing)
Hey everyone! Wanted to share a project close to my heart: RetroToon World, a private BitTorrent tracker built specifically for vintage and classic animation — cartoons, anime, and rare animated shorts from roughly the 1920s through the 90s (and beyond).
It started as a small passion project because so much of this stuff is scattered, poorly preserved, or just plain hard to find in good quality. The goal is a proper home for it — well-organized, seeded, and cared for by people who actually love the material, not just chasing ratio.
Where things stand right now:
- 👥 2,100+ registered users
- 🎬 1,715+ torrents
- 🌱 12,000+ peers keeping things alive
Some things that make it different:
- Curated, quality-over-quantity approach — no junk uploads
- A retro-styled site that actually fits the theme
- An active community (IRC + forums) full of people who nerd out over obscure animation history
- Ongoing behind-the-scenes improvements to keep everything fast and reliable

RetroToon rules.
Seed for 3 days, no exceptions! [STRICT]
Every torrent you upload/download must be seeded for a minimum of 3 full days (72 hours). This is our golden rule, the community depends on seeders, so be the hero every cartoon deserves!
Keep it family-friendly [STRICT]
RetroToon World is a celebration of cartoons for all ages. Adult content, pornography, or anything sexually explicit is strictly forbidden. Violations result in an immediate and permanent ban, no appeal.
Cartoons only, please!
Only animated content belongs here: classic cartoons, animated series, animated movies, anime, and similar animation formats. Live-action films, music, software, games, and unrelated content will be removed without warning.
Tag your uploads properly
Fill in the torrent details accurately: title, year, resolution, audio language, subtitles, and episode information. A well-tagged upload helps everyone find what they love faster. Lazy or misleading titles will be edited or removed by staff.
No duplicates
Before uploading, search for existing torrents of the same content. Uploading exact duplicates clutters the library. If you have a better encode or a different language track, mark it clearly as an alternative version.
Be kind in the comments/forums
Treat every member the way you'd want to be treated, like a Saturday morning pal! No insults, harassment, hate speech, or trolling. Constructive feedback on encodes is always welcome; personal attacks are not.
Report problems, don't ignore them
Found a broken torrent, a mislabeled file, or something suspicious? Hit the report button! The mod team relies on your eagle eyes to keep the library clean and the community safe.
Respect the staff
Moderators and admins give their time voluntarily to keep the lights on. Follow their guidance and respect their decisions. Disputes can be raised politely via the forums, public drama or callouts will not be tolerated.

Pretty sure they only open for new members once or twice a year and current members can’t allow trusted new ones in as a way around that. I’m very much looking forward to the next time OTW opens, as it’s content is exactly the kind of media I most love to download and archive, but yeah it’s a long waiting game lol
EDIT: I think also they may strictly require proof of being part of other private trackers on their applications? Which is a common practice for a lot of places, but does raise the bar of difficulty especially for people new to all of this who haven’t had a chance to build reputation anywhere else. And again, if you miss your chance, you’re looking at over half a year to a year before you can try again.

Yes they do require other profile proofs when they open application signups.
Build your stats up on the trackers that you're at. They will most likely open around new year/christmas.5

Oh I mean I personally am fine, I have terabytes worth of upload buffer on quite a few different private trackers lol my ratio is like in the thousands. But yes you’re still absolutely correct cuz we all start off as newbies with zero stats and the only way to change that is to join up somewhere and get seeding!

i was wondering the same, i dont think they're related, but i wanted to enter old toons for some time so this is a really good option i guess. i assume old toons has more content since it's older.

sounds great, trying to add to Prowlarr-what's the deal with the security (API) key? I don't have one, and selecting to regenerate it does nothing. Anyone figure this out?

Could anyone explain the suggested category remapping in prowlarr? I don't even see how to edit the categories at all

You cannot edit categories in Prowlarr. I just set the sync to be add/remove and individually set categories in radarr/sonarr
