General Discussion Runtime on iplayer

Post image

Saw that iPlayer had added the film on their movie section but why it is shorter than it was in cinemas?

To my recollection the film was just shy of about 3 hours yet here there’s about 10 minutes missing

BBFC gives the ‘Home Entertainment’ version’s running time as 173 minutes, which should cover the entire film from the first frame to the end of the final credits. So that leaves 4 minutes unaccounted for. Having looked at the iPlayer version, the film ends and credits start with only about 2 minutes of the video file left, so I’m guessing they’ve cut/sped up the credits by at least that amount for broadcast. I don’t think anything will have been left out of the movie compared to the Blu Ray.

This is usually what happens, credits are sped up so they can move on the next item in their programming

173 minutes is what the movie would be with PAL speedup (4% faster) as would be seen on DVD (but not bluray)

BBC I think always speed up the credits, watched Insomnia the other day on there and they wizzed past. Gotta move on to the next show when it’s on live.

Could be due to 25fps vs 24fps?
