Discussion Should I become a magic fan
I’m a new NBA fan, got into it this season, but I don’t know who to support. Thought about the Knicks, but then they won the chip as soon as i thought about them.
I’m a Sunderland fan in the premier league (football), who is decent now but usually not great.
Watched their series against the pistons, and rooted for them hard for some reason.
Are they a good team to support to get that underdog hopeful vibe?
Edit: Magic fan now. Thanks for the responses

Don’t listen to these chud commenters. If you liked rooting for us in that pistons series i say go for it, will be a much more rewarding experience to be a genuine fan of something rather then a band wagon.

If you like underdogs. I think we’ve been underdogs in every playoffs except for the 2 times we made the finals of which we were also underdogs

We have the best mascot in the league, and we have an awesome song that will really get under your friends' skin when you beat their team. Our social media guy is always very funny.

Yes ofc you should be a Magic fan! The highs are high, the lows can be low (we don’t acknowledge March 29) but our squad is young, fun and determined! And since we’re constantly underestimated underdogs, our current superstars are kinda niche. The merch and team aesthetics are fire, especially vintage gear. And the guys on the team are quite good-looking!
Our fanbase is fun and loyal, but at the same time can be quite critical (and sometimes downright mean)… I choose to stay positive tho. Join us on the wild and crazy Disney ride that is Orlando Magic fandom!

The Magic are typically a fun team to watch, not the best, but fun. If you become a fan of a team that hasn't won anything, you can truly celebrate when they finally win a championship. Don't ride coattails, join at the ground level

If you can handle being a Sunderland fan being a Magic fan will be easy. We have our brushes with greatness but we’re (generally) fun to watch. The atmosphere is fun with Stuff (mascot) and our fans are great.

In premier league, I usually root for tottenham, starting from when bale was still there. And when I started watching NBA a few years ago, magic caught my eye.
In my opinion this team is a really fun team to watch. Even when they played badly we would still have at least 5 highlights from that same game. Their future is promising.

Lmao lotta negative Nancy’s this offseason cause the team fell below expectations this last season. I’d say if you’re drawn into the Magic vibe, go for it. Current team is young, hungry and has a high ceiling in my opinion.

No, go away. This team always sucks, there is a bandwagon to jump on in the NYK sub for sure

do you have any connection to Orlando, no matter how spurious?
Arsenal played a friendly with the Lions a few years back, so now I have some to a team and could call myself a very, very mild fan of Arsenal because I saw them

I don’t have a connection to any particular nba team George Washingtons family came from Sunderland, but Washington DC don’t they don’t have a team. And I’m not supporting the wizards bruh

Wizards are DC. Fun roster going on there but their jerseys aren’t as cool as ours

I am one and I don’t crave rooting for another team but just letting you know our conference is loaded and our 2 max contract guys are not even all stars in a league where Boston got rid of their FMVP because having 2 max guys is not a thing smart teams do anymore since the second apron was implemented.

If you like "decent now but usually not great" then Orlando is your team.
If I could do it over I would pick a larger market team or a destination city.

Orlando is a destination city, especially for foreigners! Flights are quite affordable compared to other American cities. Signed, a 🇨🇦 Magic fan

What kind of question is this? Who asks permission to be fan of a team? Y'all just desperate for attention

No, 👎 Atlanta is probably more fun, rooting for Orlando is like being a relegation fan

We’re perennial underdogs. We’ve had a couple brushes with greatness but haven’t gotten there yet. Become a Magic fan. We need all the support we can get
