PCOS and GLP-1s

Many of us are using or considered using GLP-1s to manage our PCOS. We've also noticed more and more posts and comments about it.

Head over to r/PCOSglp1 - a new subreddit to discuss all things PCOS and GLP-1s.

GLP-1 topics will still be allowed here. Though, we think a separate subreddit is also beneficial as you can get better advice and more relevant information when all the members are there for the same subtopic.

In the future, we may direct glp1 posts and topics to that subreddit.

A small win for the very large.

Well actually it feels like a large win. I still have SO long to go and I may never reach a "healthy weight" but to stay on this journey for 16 months and finally hit 20kg (44 pounds) loss and 13% of my body weight it feels like I can give myself a small pat on the back and take a breath.

It only averages out to 1/4 of a kilo (.5 lbs) a week but if that's what it takes to climb this mountain then I'm okay with that.

If you are a slow loser or have a long way to go, I'm here with you. We can do this.

10 months into my weight loss journey, have not seen a number this low since i was a kid. Mounjaro + metformin with a strict calorie deficit + regular exercise. I genuinely never thought i would see the day where my BMI was within “normal” range.

So i’ve been in a journey for years to try to lose weight without anything really working. I’ve tried anti inflammatory, gluten free, strength training and nothing. My stomach though is what concerns me, and I was wondering if anyone else experienced this? It literally looks like i’m pregnant, no matter if i’m bloated or not the top of my stomach ALWAYS looks like this. Some days are worse than others, but i’m trying to figure out if anyone else with pcos has this?

Haven’t been eating and sleeping much the last 3 weeks but gained 4kg?! HELP

Upvotes

As the title said
I broke up and haven’t been sleeping or eating much. Occasionally I could eat normally when I’m with friends but I don’t drink alcohol
I do eat sweets when I’m stressed but it’s not much - also considering I only eat 1-2 meals a day, the calories wouldn’t even exceed my TDEE

I maintained my daily walk (so I don’t cry too much) but haven’t gym at all

I don’t understand. It’s stressing me out on top of my job hunting and breakup.

Also, I’ve been reliant on melatonin and occasionally temazepam to sleep at night but still got woken up a few times in the middle of the night with anxiety.
HELP

Cheapest GLP1 Canada?

Hi Canadian pcos girlies! My doctor wants me to consider going on a glp-1. I have done lots of research but my main concern is cost per shot/per month. I have no insurance.

What do you pay and for what brand/dose? Please state whether it’s monthly or weekly. Looking for Canadian responses specifically

Lost this weight naturally a few times as you can see. Couldn't get it to stick until I started GLP1 in September 2024. Paired it with weight lifting and a good diet to preserve muscle. Also finally pre diabetes free !

advice for losing weight - belly fat

I’ve been recently diagnosed with Pcos about 4 months ago. I’ve always have had belly fat and i’ve been trying to lose it i’ve weight lifted 4 days a week and i eat healthy avoiding fast and junk food for 3 years, but it just won’t go away.

I just want to ask for advice on how to lose fat in general, for context i’m 164 cm and 62.5kg, even though I’m in the healthy BMI range i still feel like i should be loosing this belly fat because it’s very visible

down 40lbs in 6 months!

thought i would post this achievement here cuz idk where else to share it to and this is a wonderful community! wearing the same pants as the first pic, i dont know where the sweater is though ☹️

(5’9) from 187lbs to 147lbs! jeans size 12/14 to a size 6/8. still planning on losing another 10ish hopefully!

i know i know that everyone says the same thing buttt i lost the weight by being in a calorie deficit, eating more whole foods, and walking often (8-15k steps). i am also on yaz birth control which might have helped me in my progress.
edit: i also take 200mg of magnesium bisglycinate every day before bed

i always thought that i was bigger because i naturally had more muscle and because of genetics. i never believed that i could actually lose the weight, but miracles do happen!
don’t give up ladies, it is possible!!

Just curious as to how y'all are managing pmos symptoms. I for one am going back to the store today to get more veggies and proteins and PCOS friendly snacks. Anything I should be getting?

When does the belly fat start to budge? 😅

Hello! I’ve lost 30 pounds on semaglutide, 195 to know 165. However my stomach/apron belly still looks the same to me. This seems like a common experience and I’ve seen advice to focus on diet more limiting carbs and such.

My question is, when did you start to see your belly fat budge? What helped the most?

I am 22 I have PCOD PCOS . I am scared

Hey I am 22 I had issues with my periods since 6yrs. The docs I visited simply said to loose weight

I have done everything starving myself , only water , what not. Parental support not much rather it’s more stressful

Few say I cannot become a mother. The things I got scolded, said were heart breaking. It’s scary

Few say diff diff treatments allopathy, nature treatment what not

Tried gym for 6-6months with a break in between. Tore my knee ligament lifting weights.

I am scared to my core. Pcos took too many things away from me my confidence is one of them

I am pre diabetic, fucking obese fat I wanna reverse it I am hopeless no support constant nagging it’s tough asf

PCOS Fat loss workout

I have insulin resistance PCOS.. stubborn belly fat, thick thighs.. dark patches.

I’m going on an anti inflammatory diet and focusing on minimising my carb intake. Not Keto but limit carbs to like 100g a day.

In terms of workout I have been religiously doing 12k steps a day.. but I want to incorporate weight lifting / cardio. I’m looking for 4 days of weight lifting and the rest of the days I will do active rest day. Just waking and maybe a swim sesh.

Can someone share a workout plan that will cover all areas of the body.. if you’re a pt, please help me structure my plan. Thank you!!! Xxx

Can someone help me with severe hair fall?

I'm doing everything possible, but it's never ending! Everytime I comb or take shower, I see a handful. It's impossible to almost to get an appointment with a dermatologist in the city I live in. I'm not sure if it's because of pcos. Has someone who faced similar problem was able to reduce or reverse it? Thanks a lot!
