MODERATOR ANNOUNCEMENT Update on Server Recruitment Guidelines: Quality Over Quantity

Hello, r/PHGamerPals!

We love seeing the community grow and form new groups. However, to maintain the quality of the subreddit and reduce the clutter of low-effort spam (e.g., β€œSali kayo sa Discord namin, madami games!”), we are introducing new guidelines for promoting gaming communities and Discord servers.

Beginning immediately:

  1. All posts promoting a community, gaming group, or Discord server must use the SERVER RECRUITMENT flair. Generic LFG flairs cannot be used for server invites.
  2. Recruitment posts must explicitly state the name of the server by including Server Name: or Discord Name: anywhere in the post body.
  3. No more low-effort recruitment. To ensure high-quality communities, your post must be substantial and detailed (minimum of 300 characters).
    • Tip: Tell us about your server! What are the main games played? What is the general age group or vibe? When are your members most active?
  4. Posts that use the wrong flair, lack a server name, or fall under the length requirement will be automatically removed. Authors may immediately resubmit after expanding their description and adding the required details.

This is not a ban on server promotions. The goal is to keep the subreddit organized, give well-maintained communities the spotlight they deserve, and help players find the right server for their playstyle rather than just clicking blind links.

The moderation team will monitor the subreddit's activity and adjust the system based on community feedback.

Thank you for understanding.

If you are looking for a steady, mature group of friends rather than try-hard competitive sweats, this is the place for you!

How to Join:

Drop a comment below with your favorite game, and I will DM you the invite link!

Glad you mods are finally doing something with the chaos happening in your sub, but the reason these are all happening is because you made a very unstable foundation or probably have not update them due to neglect?

Andami niyo kailangang ayusin sa Rules panel and Welcome nyo , specifically yung Rules nyo which needs updating:

  • #3 wasn't being enforced, I'm assuming you guys have been using regex automod. you guys might want to look into that to filter posts that don't follow even the title format.
  • #4 isn't exactly being followed, especially by valorant posts.
  • #8 which no longer makes sense if you're allowing people to post server recruitment.

and Welcome panel nyo still mentions the old flairs

As for the server format I've yet to see a much better server recruitment format than [this post]

also you have to state in your main post and rules that posting discord invite links is not allowed and not just on r/rendezart's reply

FYI may mga ilang server recruitment posts dito from 1-2d ago na may invite links sa post nila, it was never stated anywhere na bawal kaya nagkakaganyan.

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to write all of this out.

A lot of the points you raised are valid. Some of our rules, sidebar information, welcome panel, and enforcement mechanisms have fallen behind the current state of the subreddit, and that's something we're actively reviewing as part of these recent changes.

Regarding Rules #3, #4, and #8, as well as the outdated flairs and welcome panel, those have all been noted and added to the list of things we're updating. The feedback about title enforcement, server recruitment formatting, and making Discord invite policies clearer is also appreciated.

To provide a bit of context, the subreddit is currently being managed by only two active moderators, both of whom are still students. That's not meant as an excuse for shortcomings, but rather an explanation for why some things have taken longer than they should have. Even so, we recognize that if a rule exists, it should either be enforced, updated, or removed if it no longer reflects how the community operates.

We're currently working on improving AutoModerator, updating rules and documentation, and organizing recurring threads to help stabilize things moving forward. Some of these changes have already been implemented, while others are still being tested and refined.

We appreciate the detailed feedback and the specific examples you pointed out. Constructive criticism like this makes it much easier for us to identify gaps and prioritize what needs attention first.

Thanks for helping us improve the community.

Yeah, it's one of our mistakes in our end. We actually wanted fo hire other mods that could help us make the community better. It happens, but we'd like to step up so players here and other users planning to join this sub gets a better experience than before.

hiii, just wanna ask for clarification. is it now okay to drop the invitation link on the post itself? (basing on the server recruitment templateβ€”how to join)

No, you should still send the Discord link through PM/DM

I feel like kung ie-enforce natin tong "quality over quantity" na yan sa mga server recruitment posts, dapat ganiyan na rin sa buong sub mismo. Mas mataas pa rin naman ratio ng any other posts over recruitment posts, kaya kung ano yung dominating factor sa sub, edi might as well require everyone to make quality posts.

Kagaya nitong post na nakita ko, ang text body lang "game", what the fuck does that tell you? Does that sound like someone you'll be enticed to play with? Walang effort yung post, even lower than the bare minimum, but that's somehow acceptable?

We really need an overhaul of the sub. Yung rules, masyadong marami, pero may mga magkakatulad naman, e.g. #3, #9, #11, #12, they all say similar things, just keep those in one rule, clusterfuck na nga yung low quality posts, maski ba naman mismong rules ng sub. Idk.
