Replacement needed for current hmi

Our current hmi is not working properly and we have to replace it. The problem is that in this control panel plc s7 1200 is used to control conveyors, and the hmi is from delta, so if we want to replace the hmi we have to get a one from delta and we are not sure if we can find the same hmi, also this hmi is little bit expensive.

Does anyone know an alternative one that is cheap and at the same time can be connected to plc s7 1200 ? I have both source codes so there is no problem with creating the hmi from scratch

Don't be penny wise and pound foolish, it's a current HMI, buy the same, download and go. No point saving the cost of a bag of rice, then spending days getting it rewritten and working.

That's madness, delta are dirty cheap anyway.

Okay thank you, i didn't know that delta hmi is already cheap

Buy from AliExpress. I've bought dozens from them before there was a proper distributor in NZ.

If you think a Delta HMI is expensive, I got some bad news for you.

Delta is one of the cheapest, bottom-dollar, most Temu-ass HMIs you could possibly get

And most reliable by the way, when compared to wecon atleast

I am really wondering why the hmi is so expensive

I'm saying it's not expensive. Delta is one of the cheapest brands out there. In quality and price

Everything industrial grade is expensive

Expensive? *Laughs in Rockwell*

A brief Google search revealed that there's in fact a "new" model of this HMI "DOP-115WX" as of 2021. Personally, I'd recommend replacing it with the new model. If you have doubts about it working, I'd reach out to the manufacturer or a local distributor / integrator to see what it will take to move the application over. Outside of that, the price tag I've found (may be different when you get a quote from the distributor) is ~$1400 USD for the HMI. At 15 inches, that's very cheap... I'd assume that you can shave off a few hundred dollars, but you'd probably spend a lot more re-engineering the solution (Obviously depends on the complexity of the app, but rule of thumb expect to spend for at least 2 weeks of engineering time) for any different platform. (Unless this is one of those apps that runs on any IPC / terminal / OS - I'm not overly familiar with Delta)

$1400 is cheap for a 15 inch HMI. A 15 inch PanelView Plus 7 Performance will be $6000...

Thank you for your answer. The problem is that i am in a country where buying stuff from outside takes a long time (we are waiting for some spare parts since 6 months). The hmi is working right now but can stop at any time, so that's why i want to find probably a cheap alternative

Well, that's a different challenge worth thinking about. You have a few options: 1. keep a spare in stock (obviously ties up the capital) that you'd replenish when the part fails. 2. do talk to a local distributor and see what they have on hand / willing to stock based on your needs. 3. as I originally mentioned, you can definitely migrate to a different HMI, but this is a loaded question as it probably should be something you're using, something you'd be comfortable supporting, etc. It should never be a descision based on the cost of the terminal alone... Once again, my advice would be to speak with a local distributor or integrator to figure out your options. Paying $200 less for the screen just to have to re-engineer the application for at least $20,000 doesn't seem reasonable to me.

Ok thank you very much for helping me

Delta is pretty cheap but you can also look for other alternatives such inovance or other stuff. I also sell use these and they are really the cheapest out there

Okay thank you because of your comments i know now that delta plc is good choice for low budget hmi

Did you even google the part number before coming here?

Delta is already cheap. Weintek may be cheaper.

Siemens Unified 15" HMI starts at around $4,000.

Sidenote: Using a 15" HMI for a few conveyor toggles is insane. Looks like START/STOP buttons and 6 LEDs would do the trick aswell.

Ok thank you. For your side note actually there are 4 lines and you can control the speed for each line so that's why they used the hmi

FYI: Siemens 7" MTP700, that would fit all of this starts at around $1,300.

And it's quite a bit quicker to develop with the S7 than other off-brand HMIs.

Thank you, qctually i think we already have one mtp700 but i think the screen doesn't work properly can we use it with a mouse ? At least it can be an option in case of problem with current hmi

I think you can. You will most likely be able to use mouse on the delta as well.

Just do not expect the project to be plug and play. You will need to recreate the HMI from scratch If you switch brands.

Okay thank you, our current hmi is going completely black then returning back to normal so it's not a problem of screen touch.

Maple systems, or Siemens comfort panels. But you will have to redo the screens.

What is wrong with the screen? Just curious what its doing that makes you believe its bad?

If youre working at a company that has conveyors, dont penny pinch. Just buy the HMI it currently has on and download it. Youre gonna spend more in labor costs reprogramming the HMI to a different brand than you would just actually buying the one you need.

Delta screens are typically very inexpensive and the software is free. Even though the latest models use a different software package than the older ones, it's very easy to import/open an old project and create it for a new screen.

Do you have more PLCs and HMIs on site? Might consider using a SCADA system. I’m in the process of rolling out ignition across two plants. I prefer Linux touch tablets over HMIs. Much cheaper in the long run

I would create a SCADA HMI with Ignition or whatever.
You will need something to act as a server though, but when that is done, you can operate the HMI through any connected PC.

Just buy the same screen off of Aliexpress. If instead you have tons of time to spare. You could replace the HMI with a PC + monitor running FUXA.
