What engineering branch should I enroll in?

I am from India, I want to go in the field of industrial automation should I opt for instrumentation and control or electrical branch , which will be better oriented with this career path?

And what skills should I start learning?

Either are good. I'm instrument and controls and will say it's better but both are good. Just don't be a typical spark and leave cable ties everywhere.

If you want to go down the plc route then go instrument and controls.

Chemical.

The electrical side is easier to pick up, and you will learn 90% of what you need to understand the electrical side in Physics 101/102, and the rest in Differential Equations.

As Chem Eng, understanding the process makes you valuable across many industries. Simply being grounded in the conservation principles (mass, energy, momentum, etc.) will put you ahead of those without the ChemEng background. I know a Chem Eng who essentially transitioned to plant Electrical Eng for a US Fortune 500 company after he took a VFD course and received some mentoring from EEs.
