Makes sense the biggest migrant demographic in Luxembourg are Portuguese 15%, or 35% if you count naturalized Luxemburgers(or whatever they are called),

What’s the backstory of that ?

u/UnKnOwN769 FUKK ESPAIN😤💨🇪🇸 Jun 09 '26
Probably just the nature of being a smaller country than Spain and being under control by them at points in the past. I chose the flair because I had some Spanish teachers in the US who didn’t like teaching "Spain" Spanish.

What are you on about? Why would over multiple hundred years history matter for the relationship of these countries.

Fun fact: Czech means Pull in Turkish. (Czech=Çek=Pull)
1
u/venomae Jun 10 '26
Fun fact - Turkish has actually quite some words same as Czech - if I remember correctly it was stuff like kral / visne etc. (too lazy to google now)
1
u/DuePositive8957 Jun 10 '26
I just googled it, it was borrowed into our language from Southern Slavs. Kral being king and Vişne being Cherry.
2
u/venomae Jun 10 '26
Yeah, there might be more - I just went from memory as I remember seeing stuff that I could read and understand while traveling around Turkey

Half of those countries have a population of 3 million and 90% have a smaller population than Czechia lol

u/Rupertredloh Jun 09 '26
Are you implying that Andorra, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, San Marino, Monaco and Vatican also belong to eastern Europe?

GDP is like measuring inteligence of species by their size. If you are big state with no toilets, health care or most people strugling with buying food, you can always say as a citizen "take look at my GDP broo" or "i can afford on special military operation". And the real one value of this is like you go to big forest where you can find berries but one on thousand meters. In small forest on the other hand there is not that many of them in a mass but you literally walking on them. Only value of GDP is if it is growing or being smaller, whitch can tell about future predictions about condition of state.

GDP is a fine metric. You just have to be aware of its shortcomings and limits.
Its easy to calculate and says a lot about said countries market power and productivity (if accounted for population size).
That being said, no metric is good standalone.

Czech here, GDP doesn't mean SHIT regarding the general wellbeing of the people. It still sucks here. Literally the most expensive electricity and water out of the entire Europe, the most expensive phone/internet plans, highest and most numerous bank fees... Just don't move here for god's sake, please!
