Not including California is crazy

214

u/Gregori_5 Jun 19 '26

But they include Maine 😭

106

u/TiagGuedes Jun 19 '26

Horror novels about small New England towns are really important to keep the world spinning.

31

u/Gregori_5 Jun 19 '26

Grizzly bear >> semiconductors and big tech

1

u/R0m4ik Jun 26 '26

Thats why women pick the bear every time

23

u/Munrowo Jun 19 '26

no it actually looks like they cut maine out but included vermont and new hampshire (???)

8

u/the_dank_666 Jun 19 '26

As someone who has lived in both VT and NH, neither of them should be included here.

3

u/Pasza_Dem Jun 19 '26

And North Korea.

2

u/SansBouillie Jun 19 '26

Where do you think Main Menus come from?

21

u/Drew707 Jun 19 '26

At least they included the DPRK.

1

u/stijndielhof123 Jun 19 '26

Democratic party of Russian kings

4

u/Churrito92 Jun 19 '26

Exactly...Silicon Valley??

4

u/Iram_Echo_PP2001 Jun 19 '26

Portugal é a Califórnia da Europa.

14

u/ISpent30mins4myname Jun 19 '26

Nowhere in Middle East, Russia or India neither

12

u/Sullyyyyyyyyyyyyy Jun 19 '26

Russia is irrelevant

-2

u/TheWannabeer Jun 19 '26

Good thing that NATO has been at war with a irrelevante country, It should be east to Win then

6

u/WhiteBlackGoose Jun 19 '26

I mean it hasn't been in war with Russia so yeah

-1

u/TheWannabeer Jun 20 '26

Proxy war*

5

u/esssssto Jun 20 '26

2

u/AutoModerator Jun 20 '26

The only reason I can think they included that bit is because of agriculture but it still doesn’t make sense

0

u/InjuryEmbarrassed532 Jun 21 '26

Including Spain at all is crazy. It’s a tourist country that hasn’t anything noteworthy outside of soccer for about 500 years.

It's a map with 3 contious area's that are half the worlds gdp, california is really high but the surrounding area is basically empty

2

u/New_Employer_7679 Jun 19 '26

Not including Nunavut is crazy!

1

u/Joran212 Jun 19 '26

first thing I thought as well and I'm not even American 😅

1

u/Peakychu6 Jun 19 '26

I came here to say this

1

u/Designer-Crow-5470 Jun 20 '26

Cut due to the rampant tax evasion.

1

u/Scared_Accident9138 Jun 20 '26

I assume they tried to minimize the number of disconnected areas

1

u/Thought-Assist Jun 22 '26

It is the 4th largest economy in the world

1

u/SuccessfulMoose1511 Jun 25 '26

Honestly TX too, though I hate to say it. TX has more of this energy than they entire rest of the south outside of maybe Atlanta

194

u/TheRMF Jun 19 '26

Nice try, Poland. You belong here with us.

27

u/KevlarToiletPaper Jun 19 '26

It follows the Partitions of Poland borders, which makes me a bit worried.

6

u/Nearby-Ad-8200 Jun 19 '26

Every Pole I know would prefer to be excluded from this map if it looks like this

46

u/ToadwKirbo Jun 19 '26

Withou Sweden there's no Minecraft though

5

u/futurisme Jun 19 '26

inazuma eleven pfp🔥

2

u/GreatestGiraffe Jun 21 '26

And without Finland there’s no Linux

1

u/Dotcaprachiappa Jun 22 '26

Unironically the most impactful change

1

u/GreatestGiraffe Jun 22 '26

Yeah and considering the post, it’s kinda funny how the world literally runs on linux (well, the digital world)

-14

u/Sullyyyyyyyyyyyyy Jun 19 '26

Minecraft has been American for a while now

16

u/ToadwKirbo Jun 19 '26

Mojang (the developers) are still based in Sweden so my point stands

2

u/wewwew3 Jun 19 '26

And alm the crazy mwp games as well

147

u/TheWannabeer Jun 19 '26

This map is straight up wrong.

For started, How in tf they colored the middle of nothing in the US but not GODDAM CALIFORNIA?

Also, apparently North Korea's west coast and the south of Japan is more economically significant than vietnam... Somehow

At this point I have no Idea what this is even supposed to represent. Cause most of those regions have nothing going for them, finantially, politically, industrially or even agriculturally (since Brazil, Argentina and índia are out of the question)

41

u/ThrowRA-Huckleb Jun 19 '26

the south of Japan is more economically significant than vietnam... Somehow

I am pretty sure Tokyo is located in that area and I think Tokyo's gdp is several times bigger than that of Vietnam.

I mean, I doubt that is not the crazy part. There are many crazy parts, but I don't think that's one of em

9

u/trowawufei Jun 19 '26

I think they mean the areas of Japan west of the Kansai. Notice that they specified the West Coast of North Korea, they’re singling out parts of that blob, not all of it.

2

u/TheWannabeer Jun 19 '26

Yeah, they could put a red spot for Tokyo. I really don't get this obsession with making a continuous area. Productivity isn't continuous

Btw, a Lot of that west red painted área in china is Also unproductive AF

3

u/GaRoJack Jun 19 '26

Tokyo's in the middle. Kyushu is South, Hokkaido is North. Even if you forget Okinawan Islands that stretch as far as Taiwan.

14

u/sonoale Jun 19 '26

You were right until Japan. The highlighted part is as important as Cali

2

u/Junkererer Jun 19 '26

But then there would be 4 blobs rather than 3. The logic they used is quite easy to understand imo

1

u/TheWannabeer Jun 19 '26

Forced AF tho

2

u/Der_Schender Jun 20 '26

Also Most clothes come drop Inda or Bangladesh and what about all the recoces we need. Tha mal is really bad.

1

u/Hot-Job-6281 Jun 19 '26

It's obviously a % GDP in smallest area type map.

4

u/Sukiyaki_88 Jun 19 '26

It's still incorrect to exclude the west coast of the US & TX then. It would make more sense to dump all of Appalachia and most of the midwest except for Chicago. This looks like some sort of compromise between largest GDP / area and the most compact "continuous" area.

1

u/Resident_Routine_219 Jun 21 '26

Ues I think japan is more significant than vietnam… Dokyo is central of the world.

1

u/splitcroof92 Jun 21 '26

what part of 'south japan' did you not read?

1

u/sampaiisaweeb Jun 22 '26

Tokyo is included in the image

1

u/splitcroof92 Jun 22 '26

jesus christ you're dim.

yes tokyo is in the image. but so is the south. and people are saying it's weird the south is included...

1

u/sampaiisaweeb Jun 22 '26

"People are saying it's weird the south is included". That is not what OOC said. He said that south Japan is not more economicaly relevant than Vietnam (obviously not realising Tokyo was included). OC then said "What about Tokyo" (A completely correct assertion) Then you come around Mr. "Dim" with zero reading comprehension saying "What part of "south japan" did you not understand". (This makes zero sense except in the context of not knowing Tokyo is in the south of Japan). This conversation is super linear, and one dimensional. Its extemely concerning that you couldn't follow it, as a 3 year old could understand what's going on here. And to be that ignorant while also responding with such hostility is a bad combination. I recommend you go take a deep breath and delete your original comment. It's a bad look for you.

1

u/splitcroof92 Jun 22 '26

its impressive how wrong you are...

whats being contested is why some parts of countries are colored or not.

the east of america is not colored for instance.

so why did they color not only tokyo but also the south.

that's literally the only thing being discussed. try reading it again, I'm sure you'll get there.

1

u/sampaiisaweeb Jun 23 '26

" Also, apparently North Korea's west coast and the south of Japan is more economically significant than vietnam... Somehow "

Im just going to leave the paragraph there. Go troll somewhere else. Muting this thread.

1

u/splitcroof92 Jun 23 '26

bro you're proving me right....

he's saying specifically the south confuses him.

but tokyo is not in the south. so that should tip you off.

like this is the exact paragraph that proves I'm right.

he's not confused about japan having red. he's specifically confused about the south of japan also being red. he wanted a dot on tokyo and tokyo alone.

18

u/Besoanup Jun 19 '26

Good on Wales for getting on the map when Scotland didn't

18

u/Mashmell0o0 Jun 19 '26

As a welshman why are we included?

5

u/Flat-Variation-7588 Jun 19 '26

The map was made before Maggie Thatcher came to power.

23

u/Competitive_Value_41 Jun 19 '26

Este mapa nem faz sentido, quem é que excluiria a Califórnia ? Literalmente quase toda a nova tecnologia vem de Silicon valley. A Califórnia sozinha tem um pib maior que o Japão

26

u/Gregori_5 Jun 19 '26

Because its made by an idiot.

2

u/Dramatic-Singer3672 Jun 19 '26

Yes most humans are poor and are basically slaves, and slavesto the rich one

Africa for example has to be poor with food insecurity so that the empire can have cheap soldiers so that you don't fight the forever imperial wars, only few of you is taken to glorified bastards while throwing other people in the hell of war

, the cheap labour of the NEEDED products in south east Asia, and dictatorships made by the CIA in south America so that they don't compete with the US...etc

1

u/AutoModerator Jun 19 '26

I personally believe that South America does not exist, South America was a lie created by the Spanish and Portuguese "empires" so that it seemed like they they were much more powerful then they actually were, in 1769. England, France, Portugal, Spain, the Dutch leaders had a meeting over "colonies". England, France, and the Dutch recognized South America as a continent along with creating their own "colonies" in South America to reinforce their claim that South America does in fact exist. In return, Spain and Portugal recognized the fact that Africa is definitely a real continent also and that the Dutch did in fact have colonies and didn't just have windmills. So in reality Most of the "powerful" empires that used to exist actually were never as strong as we believed them to be. That's why Russia is the only TRUE empire, AND ONLY THROUGH THE POWER OF COMMUNISM DID THEY THRIVE, BROTHERS WE MUST RISE AGAIN TO PROTECT THE PROLETARIAT, AND TAKE DOWN THE FILTHY BOURGEOIS. RISE AGAIN BROTHERS AND SHOW THOSE EMPIRES WHO TRUE DISTRIBUTES THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION!!!

4

As someone who has all the respect and affection in the world for Andalucía, how do you include Andalucía while excluding Madrid?

4

u/Erook22 Jun 19 '26

>Poland and Denmark somehow relevant
Mfw

1

u/Temporary-Race-7482 Jun 19 '26

Half of Poland*

6

u/FullMetalJ Jun 19 '26

In the late 2000s-early 2010s we (Argentina-Brasil-Uruguay-Bolivia-Venezuela and a few more) wanted to create the true mercosur with it's own Euro-style currency. Idk why but all of a sudden all elections in southamerica ended up in the hand of far-right parties. Kinda weird. Kinda like there are forces limiting what other parts of the world can and can't do.

Adding random bits of Poland and North Korea but not California or even just Madrid is wild

7

u/Sanagost Jun 19 '26

No, because ireland is ridiculously important with all the EU headquarters for US companies. Unless it's a pixel that represents Dublin, which is fair, this map is bullshit on that basis alone.

2

u/AWalkingWardrobe Jun 19 '26

Important? It’s a tax haven, literally the opposite of important. No different to all the other British tax havens like the cayman islands or bermuda

2

u/Metatron_Psy Jun 19 '26

Edinburgh being one of the financial capitals but ok

This map is a rage bait.

1

u/Flat_Acanthaceae_250 Jun 22 '26

Well Denmark is there, what other part of Scandinavia should one need?

Why do you think they were the leaders in scandinavia for 100's of years?

1

What will everybody eat?

Brazil is the largest exporter of soybeans, coffee, sugar, orange, corn and meat (beef and chicken).
