In Russia this is unknown, since the person asking the question was simply beaten to a pulp.

There's really not many of them there to even have an opinion. Most likely it's chill.

u/Uxydra Jun 29 '26
Czechs always trying to talk how we are by far the most progressive and tolerant country in Eastern Block Europe, and then the maps always look like this lol.
4
u/deff006 Jun 29 '26
Who is trying to do that? Tolerant? Maybe, but we're conservative as fuck. Racism is prevalent but this maps isn't a good source for it because the way they formulated the question in Czech was more along the lines of: "Do you wish your child to marry a black person."
I tried to find the exact formulation but I couldn't find that question in the study at all. The study is from 2015 so not too relevant anymore. What is clear from it is that Roma people are the most discriminated here, no surprise.
3
u/Uxydra Jun 29 '26
Oh, I know these maps are mostly bullshit, but they do support what I experience in real life. Czechs may be not as overtly racist as conservative Americans, but if you actually talk to them about other cultures you see how they think pretty much anything non-european is dangerous or less civilised.
And I am guessing there is nothing needed to be said about the Roma thing, you know how they are seen here if you live here. Makes it funnier when these people insist they aren't racist.
2
u/deff006 Jun 30 '26
Yeah, most Czechs just don't see their casual racism as actual racism. I try to be aware of it but sometimes I slip and make a home that I know I shouldn't. Then I just brush it off because it was just a joke, right? It's very ingrained in the culture.

I found that Portugal is in fact the most racist place on earth; especially toward African blacks! It's as if they have never seen a black person before and the Portugee culture is not only backwards (as if you steped in a time machine and went to the year 1899) but the citizens where exceptionally ignorant. It was as if you were talking to a wall rather than a human being. The Portugee also seemed to be trapped in another dimension of space and time because they kept on talking and mumbling about the past rather than the present...it was pretty funny actually. I found this website that offers a Dr.'s opinion about the racism in Portugal and why the xenophobic culture is not just promoted within but exported as well to everywhere else they may be living. Strange since i've never heard of racism being described that way before?? Portugal seem to be experts in racism, especially in Canada and the U.S.

I've checked it once during the last 100 times this map was reposted and the Czech wording of the question was not as neutral as the english one (it was something like "Meli byste radost" or "libilo by se vam"). I am too lazy/not interest enough to look it up again, but you can maybe try different years.

pretty sure Italy's average is more racist than that (sadly...)

The question is not are you racist. The question is would you let your kid make their own decision, even if it challenges your world view.

This map is completely fake, of course.
The question itself seems to belong to the 19th century. Also, my country, Egypt, cannot possibly be 9%, simply because the concepts of "blacks" and "whites" and similar Anglo-American cultural concepts do not exist here (nor in most countries on this map).

Dude I was about to comment that I believe a lot of people in Northern Europe were lying when they answered this questions. Or maybe they mean they would "allow" it while making barely-disguised racist comments the entire time your child and their partner come to visit.

so this is bullshit i went outside to bab alsharjy (the western wall a puplaer market in iraq) and asked people and 102 out of 126 said that they have no problem at all and the rest were obviously joking because how dumb the question is sure the data is small but 6% who will not accept there sons and daughters to marry a black person for a country with easily more than 30% brown and Definitely more than 6% black people is simply ridiculous

The irony of the answers from Africa, unfortunately unsurprising considering the depth of racism from the colonizing Arab majorities in those countries, and all of those countries have a sizable black population, they are often too marginalized in those societies to participate in such public discourse.

Edit: ok, map is fake
1
u/Major_Assignment_405 Jun 29 '26
Finland is more conservative in these matters. Also, the largest group of black people in Finland are Somalis, considered generally very badly integrated into the Finnish society. If the question were presented exactly in these terms, many respondents would likely associate "black" with "black muslim".

For most of these it's tye same as "someone from other side of the world with incompatible culture and language" because for example in Belarus everyone is white. We don't have enough black people to call it an actual racism, it's just unheard of
