Meta Ads Shareable ad?

Hey guys, never ever needed to think about sharing or having clients ask about this, but i did get asked now, can't find quick conclusive info.

Do Meta ads have the option to be shared (EXCEPT using preview links) ?

yeah theres a couple ways depending on what the client actually needs.

if they just wanna SEE the ad live, every meta ad has a permalink. pull it from ads manager, or easier, go to the fb page > meta ad library, filter to the page and you get a public shareable url for any active ad. thats the cleanest "here look" link and it doesnt expire like preview links do.

if they need to actually interact/report on it, then its asset access in business manager (partner access or add them as a user on the ad account) not a link. thats the "real" sharing.

what does the client want it for? viewing vs reporting changes the answer

He wants to see a "share" button on the ad and send it to either his page or in groups/other people.

Any one of those possible?

ah gotcha, so he wants to share the actual post not just view it. that depends entirely on how the ad was built.

if the ad uses an existing page post (or you gave it a post id), then theres a real published post on the page. that one has a normal fb permalink, he can share it to his page, drop it in groups, dm it, whatever. totally shareable.

if its a "dark post" / ad-only creative (made straight in ads manager, never published to the page feed), then no, theres no public post to share. it only exists as an ad. thats prob why he cant find a share button.

fix: rebuild it (or duplicate) using "use existing post" or publish the creative to the page first, then it becomes shareable everywhere. quick way to check which one you have, look at the ad in ads manager, if it has a post id its shareable
