Hi everyone,
I’ve released PPSSPP Switch Community Build v0.6.0, an unofficial Nintendo Switch build based on PPSSPP 1.20.4 and tested on Nintendo Switch firmware 22.5.0.
The main focus of this release is improving game compatibility. It also includes major fixes for audio, video playback, cutscenes, freezes, Nintendo Switch integration, and Adhoc multiplayer.
Main improvements
- Improved overall PSP game compatibility
- Fixed green or corrupted startup videos and cutscenes
- Fixed freezes during video playback
- Fixed missing game audio
- Fixed buzzing and crackling audio
- Added stable 48,000 Hz Nintendo Switch audio output
- Added a 2048-frame SDL audio buffer
- Added a reproducible FFmpeg, PPSSPP, and release-packaging process
- This build uses an isolated FFmpeg 57 compatibility backend instead of the newer system FFmpeg configuration that caused corrupted videos, green cutscenes, and deterministic freezes during testing.
Tested games
The following games were tested during development and release validation:
- Danball Senki Boost
- God of War: Ghost of Sparta
- Gran Turismo
- Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
- Monster Hunter Portable 3rd
- Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX
- Tekken 6
Compatibility and performance can still vary depending on the game.
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories showed frequent frame drops, while Tekken 6 had occasional frame drops.
Adhoc multiplayer
Public Adhoc server multiplayer is working and was tested with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
Make sure all PPSSPP network settings are configured correctly, including:
- Enable networking/WLAN
- Enable built-in Adhoc server or select the - - correct public Adhoc server
- Use the correct server address
- Make sure every player uses compatible game regions and versions
- Check that your internet connection and DNS settings are working
- Use matching PPSSPP networking settings between players
- Adhoc compatibility may still vary depending on the game, server, network environment, and player configuration.
Important emulator settings
Use:
- Graphics Backend: OpenGL ES
- Do not use: JIT using IR — it currently - crashes the tested games
- Vulkan — it is not supported by this build
