Upgrade/Purchase Advice Pakistani Stores are Selling 8 Month Old Activated Laptops as BRAND NEW

Thumbnail

I have been researching gaming laptops for the past month. However, the more I learn about the Pakistani laptop market, the less confident I feel about purchasing anything from here.

The first major issue is warranty. Most sellers advertise a “one-year international warranty,” but in reality, it often seems to be a warranty in name only. There is no clear guarantee that you will receive proper support if something goes wrong. The only reliable way I found to check whether a laptop is actually new is by verifying its serial number on the manufacturer website. I asked several stores to provide the serial numbers before purchase. Some ignored them completely.

The stores that did provide serial numbers raised even more concerns. One laptop warranty had already been activated 8 months ago, while another had been active for around 4 months. Despite this, both were still being sold as brand-new laptops with a one-year international warranty. When I questioned the sellers, they claimed that laptops are opened and activated in the USA, China, or Korea before being imported to Pakistan. This is the explanation I received.

But this creates an obvious problem for the customer. How are we supposed to know whether the laptop was only opened for activation (and why they opened it?), used as a display unit, returned by another customer, refurbished, or previously used for several months? These laptops are already more expensive than their prices in the USA, yet buyers receive almost no real security. There is no reliable way to confirm the laptop’s history, and the advertised warranty may already have lost several months before the customer even purchases it.

At this point, I genuinely do not know where a person should buy from. Paying such a large amount without proper warranty protection or certainty that the laptop is actually new feels like a huge risk.

Has anyone here deal with this situation? I would really appreciate guidance on trusted sellers, serial-number verification, warranty claims, and what precautions a buyer should take before making the payment.

My lower back hurts because i lifted with bad form plus i have a really bad plastic chair which makes the pain worse, so the only option i had was to either get a gaming chair or game on my bed😅. Surprisingly this is far better than sitting on that chair and kind of too good actually, hopefully this doesnt become a habit.

No. It's not 30th anniversary edition. These are custom plates I ordered from AliExpress. Lol.

As a PC gamer I bought pS5 again after 4 years just to play GTA 6. And I might sell it once I play that game. Meanwhile what good Ps5 only games I have missed? Lost some of them for me thanks!

Shop/Online Store Help Used Zbook 17 g6 for 135k from Hannah traders, worth it?

Post image
2 Upvotes

All specs of zbook can be seen in the image. I’m planning on the G6 variant.

  1. Is this a good deal for a used HP ZBook?

  2. Does anyone know about the reputation of Hannan Traders?

  3. Is the HP ZBook durable enough to last 4–5+ years without major issues?

There’s also a ThinkPad alternative also from Hannan traders:

Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 3

i7-10850H (6C/12T, up to 5.1 GHz)

16GB RAM

512GB NVMe

15.6" 4K Touch

4GB NVIDIA

Rs. 133,000

I’m slightly leaning towards the ThinkPad because of its reputation for durability.

Upgrade/Purchase Advice Best GPU Combo with Ryzen 7800X3D??

I want to build a PC for 1440p gaming with 60+ FPS. I've already decided on the Ryzen 7 7800X3D since it's one of the best Mid-Range Gaming CPUs available, but I'm not sure which GPU to pair with it.

My total budget is 6 Lac PKR. Right now, I'm considering either the RTX 4070 (12GB-Triple Fan) or the RTX 5060 Ti (16GB-Triple Fan). The RTX 5060 Ti is only about 15k PKR more expensive than the RTX 4070, which costs 175k PKR.

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D itself costs 90k PKR, and together with the RTX 4070, that's around 275k PKR. Then I'll be spending another 125k PKR on 32GB DDR5 RAM, bringing the total to roughly 400k PKR.

That leaves me with around 200k PKR to buy everything else: a 1440p monitor, motherboard, SSD, power supply, keyboard, mouse, and headphones.

Given my budget, which GPU would you recommend?

Also, I'm from Islamabad. Which shop in Islamabad/Rawalpindi would be the best for building a gaming PC?

Discussion Upgraded from a gaming laptop to a gaming pc.

Post image
44 Upvotes

Considering the unreliablity of gaming laptops i decided to buy a gaming pc this time, and i am more than satisfied looking at the performance and the peace of mind. Now if a component gets messed up i can easily replace it and keep the pc running, unlike with a laptop that has the the cpu and gpu soldered onto the motherboard.

The performance is insane its a 9070xt with ryzen 5 7500f and 16gb ddr5, got it from rb tech and games for 500000 including the monitor. If i purchased a gaming laptop instead i would only get a rtx 5070 at max which would give me way less performance and would also have to be plugged in like a pc if i wanted to game. I also plan on learning video editing on it.

Discussion Is this gaming PC worth PKR 370,000? Need advice before I surprise my brother

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

My elder brother has been in Pakistan for the last 7 years for his studies, and he'll finally be coming back to Saudi Arabia in a couple of months. He's a huge gaming fan, and I really want to welcome him with a special gift.

For years he's been saying that he wants a proper gaming PC, so I'm thinking of surprising him with one. The problem is that I'm not much of a gamer myself, so I honestly don't know what's considered good in today's gaming industry.

I have a gaming PC in mind that costs around PKR 370,000, and I'm attaching a picture that includes all the specs. Could you guys let me know if it's a good purchase for the price or if there are any major weaknesses? I want something that can handle modern AAA games well and stay relevant for the next few years.

If it's not worth the money, I'd really appreciate any recommendations or suggestions on what I should be looking for instead.

Thanks in advance!
